That's unfortunate

I think popping out 5 kids also had something to do with her disappearance from the music scene...

Again, it's not like this is a big issue for me or anything, the only reason I made a few posts about this is because he's not the face I immediately associate with Metallica
wiki says he is the main songwriter tho. songwriting>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>doing most interviews

Wiki is lying then. I think he does do most of the lyrics but the music is pretty much all a collaboration between him and the other guy with #3 (the most talented musician in the band) occasionally writing some of his own parts and in the later years starting to be more involved in the process.

hetfield is pretty unreal value really. the most popular metal act oat and been dominant and prolific for like 20 yrs. have a lot of critical acclaim too.

We were probably going to take Hill this round but I was totally unsure of the value. I think it's hard to argue she won't get fed up with show business and quit in this life too. She was on the path to being like A-List top of the line artist and basically was for a short time. I love listening to her music.

I'm not sure you can find me a single song where Hetfield has a writing credit where undrafted isn't also credited.

doesn't matter. he's def a principal songwriter, collab or not, of one of the most successful metal acts, and bands, for that matter, of the past 25 years. It's a really good pick at this point.

there have been plenty of picks so far where there is plenty of collaboration and co-writing behind the bulk of the work associated with the pick. Elton John and David Byrne, to name a couple.

TuT,
I think Hill burnt out because Miseducation was such a huge success. So in this world we either get one hugely popular or incredible album, or she becomes more prolific but never becomes a huge star.

Catching up here...

The person who said MJB was the best R&B singer since 1990, that is correct.

LOL at Hetfield not being the frontman. Hetfield is Metallica. He does write most songs with an undrafted drummer, but the lead guitar player and bass player are basically given zero creative input in their music. And I mean really, the other guy is the drummer, he's not creating melody. Hetfield is insane value and I would have taken him rounds ago if he had any type of fit with my/pj's label.

Lauryn Hill is simply great, I wish she wasn't so depression prone. Her solo debut is undoubtedly one of the best albums of the past 20 years.

I had ideas of grandeur of doing some sick double picks that included lauryn hill. I semi considered her over MJB but MJB fell way to far and had to be drafted.

Round 8 Pick 159

Starting to take my label in a different direction

Spoiler:
RZA

RZA is a rapper/producer who is best known for being the leader of the Wu-Tang Clan. Not only was he the primary producer for Wu's albums, but he has also produced albums for many of his bandmates' solo endeavors. RZA had his hand in basically every part of Wu's meteoric rise to the top of the hip-hop world.

Quote:
According to The Wu-Tang Manual, at the group's inception, RZA started what he called the "5 Year Plan" in which he asked the other 8 members of the Clan for 5 years of life, hard work and good lyrics. He promised the members that if he had total control of the Wu-Tang empire, he would "take them to the top", and conquer the hip-hop world within a dynastic cycle. Afterwards, he would then relinquish his total control. He described this five year period "as a dictatorship". RZA's five year "dictatorship" was completed after the successful release of Wu-Tang Forever.
RZA's gritty, heavily sampled production style has served as a huge influence for many of today's well-known producers, mostly notably Kanye West.

Dyenimator can pick because HTG was already skipped once.

I won't be around this weekend but I'll post my pick when it's up.

Hetfield is undeniably Metallica's frontman. You can argue whether or not he's the person most responsible for their success, but that's a totally different argument. (in fact, my next pick may be a guy who is NOT a frontman but IS most responsible for his band's success.)
