So apparently Blandino is entering full Baghdad Bob mode:
'Judgement call on the field. Back judge felt it wasn't overt.'

ok then

Not overt. Discussion over.

Refs in damage control mode pretending like the refs purposefully decided it wasn't "overt" so therefore decided not to flag it so it was a judgement call.

I personally don't believe that. Just sounds better than "They spaced out and nobody remembered the rule"

If the other party nominated Pop we'd have issues

It'd have to go back to the original days where the loser becomes the other's VP

The NFL is incapable of admitting error.

We aren't talking about memorizing the US tax Code here. Standard incompetence on part of the refs and the lolFL.

Maybe if they didn't change the rules every year...

Still, BB goat confirmed again. In a game he had nothing to do with.

Seems like it needs to be review able.

The bolded is not true in general.

Pop is way more of a boss than BB. Imagine him negotiating with Iran? We'd have them making bombs for us.

I think it's pretty likely the ref knew the rule, his thought process just went something like "Well it was a tiny tap, and the ball was going OOB anyway, do I really want to make this call in the Seattle end zone? Maybe it wasn't intentional. Maybe he just got a case of butter fingers. Yeah."

Tapped, not batted or punched. But the ref didn't have the balls to claim that - so he's claiming not-intentional.

I fully grant that this was an illegal bat, but lol, of the relatively infrequent instances where this rule might come into play, it is frequently very hard to tell if someone is clumsily grabbing for a ball or batting it. There is no way this rule could be enforced objectively every time.

Mike Pereria says easy call - illegal bat, refs blew it.

I had SEA in a survivor pool so I was yelling at the TV when the guy batted it out because I knew it was a penalty. Refs gonna ref, I guess.

I learned the rule because I think I actually saw the last time it was called in a game (to my knowledge). Of course, refs ****ed that one up too:

Dolphins are playing pre-deflategate Pats sometime in the last 3 yrs, I forget exactly when. Dolphins sack Brady and he fumbles. DLineman jumps to try to recover the ball and in his attempt to recover it, the ball bounces off his hand and goes about 10 yds backwards. Dolphins recover, but they called the lineman for illegal batting. Multiple replays pretty much confirm that they DLineman was attempting to recover and not at all trying to bat the ball. Doesn't matter, though since it's a judgement call like DPI. Illegal batting and pats keep possession.

BB can be Press Secretary: On to Pyongyang.

But seriously, BB would be a great VP, in the Cheney mold.

Saying that wasn't overt is just insulting everyone's intelligence this isnt 7th grade and you're in the principal's office playing dumb. Just f****** admit that you f***** up people would appreciate it more.

I lose all respect for grown adults like this who actually think that we can't tell they are full of s***

I guess I'll need to hear from Mike Carey to see if he thinks it was a bat, but maybe I'll have to eat my words. Looks like it was legal.
