I just want to point out that teams drafting around the end of round 1 could've had a team of:

C Rasheed Wallace
PF Dennis Rodman
SF Ron Artest
SG Latrell Sprewell

I can think of a few PGs still available who would fit in nicely too.
This is from a while ago, but if I joined this I would have been completely ****ing around. One of the plans was to draft JJ Redick and put him at PG on a team full of crazy ass dudes. This would have been perfect.

Another plan was to roll out a starting 5 of Pau, Z, Vlade, Arvydas, and Smits. Would have made any and all trades necessary to pull that off.

Round 5, Pick 180: RUN JMC selects Ralph Sampson

ALERT THE SUNS TEAM DOCTORS.

The 2nd of the "twin towers" Sampson was the #1 overall pick in the 1983 draft. After an insane college career he headed to Houston to become a dominant big man alongside Hakeem. Sampson was 7-4 with a wiry frame. He ran the floor well for his size in his younger years as well. He greatly helps my inside presence and allows my main man Al Horford to switch to the 4 or possibly become the 6th man. Sampson's knees eventually gave out on him but I feel his talent is far too great to pass up. Yet another of the "but what if he hadn't rushed to come back" stories that we've been seeing throughout the draft. I feel like I've got 5 guys capable of doing some great things on in transition with JKidd leading the way and that my basket protection just went up greatly.

Team so far:
PG: Jason Kidd
SG: Mitch Richmond
SF: Corey Maggette
PF: Al Horford
C: Ralph Sampson

RUFFNECK on the clock...

you're right. a true "alert the suns doctors" pick. ankle problems, and i think 3 knee surgeries (1 on right knee, 2 on left knee) later, people were left wondering. i think evidence that fast, athletic 7'4" freaks are just not meant to happen. a couple monster seasons though.

one thing about older players, its that it's really tough to prove things like "he came back too soon" or "he was used in [insert] role" or things like that because media was so much different then.

so when the burden of proof is on us to show that a player's career might not turn out in our simulation the way that it did in the past, this is sometimes the breaking point.

i think this is one of the reasons why more modern role players are getting taken, rather than older ones. its just easier to figure out other ways these guys could be used because we've seen them play a ton, and heard so much stuff in the press about their games.

imo of course

I suppose he can be something more or a role player if he wasnt on the Pacers and if he wasnt always a health risk.
JON said he's going to be an all star next year.

Yeah - and I remember Starbury saying he was going to average 20points and 10 Dimes prior to this past season....my guess is HSP mustve seen that youtube clip and stopped watching the rest of the season.

dont get me wrong - I think the JO is really good...but 22 mill a year good?...he must have a great agent.

NBA players are so lucky they have guaranteed contracts and not the crap the NFL players have to deal with.

I'll vote against coaches:

For: Bobbo, HSP, Dudd, Epipen, Zoidberg, KLJ, Victor (7)

Against: Alex, AC-Cobra, MEbenhoe, NoPair, tbach, sergsz, Seadood, Kidcolin, franchise, clark, BJLTNYK, LurchySoprano, Cowboy, Nicholas, Assani Fisher (16)

I said beforehand that it needed to be >66% to overturn a rule and that we'd go until 30 votes or until voting dies down. There hasn't been a vote in hours(other than mine), but I'll give others a chance here. 4 more votes for "against" or 3 more votes for "for" will clinch it. If nobody else votes within the next 20 hours or so, then I'll just close the voting and make a decision(as of now "against" would win).

Also, just throwing this out there...

When I first started this thing I just randomly chose 10 rounds because it was a nice round number. However, I'm having a ton of fun and wouldn't mind adding on 2 more to make it 12. This would make the reverse snake more fair also btw since it would fully reverse at the end. However, we can't simply vote on this as if some people quit after 10 then we're stuck. So if everyone(or an overwhelming majority) would like to add on then I'd be all for it. Let me know what you think....

Assani,

It was 16-7 before your vote, should be 17-7 now.

I vote FOR drafting coaches...I love the idea...makes it more interesting and fun and will add to more arguing - i mean debating - regarding what coach plays what style of basketball and if it really suits your team.

I think it will add a different dynamic to the discussions.

VOTE YES ON BILL 42!
