Well one is white and we've already found out that's not a good thing when you're playing elite players and the other doesn't like to practice so he could prove detrimental to an elite team.

yes, jesus what the **** is going on in here. i think maybe 20 post players theoretically should/would be taken out of the first 30 picks if this league were to actually happen (dirk being counted as a SF, maybe a new-age 4).

if only basketball was "add up career/season averages" and compare against the other player's/team's corresponding stats. certain players would do significantly poorer against significantly better competition. not to mention modern rules (and interpretation of these rules) would have a huge effect as well

i do think this league would be really, really fun to watch though (ldo).

actually, kobe peaked in 2005-2006. (@27) Which is fairly typical. Perimeter players typically enjoy a plateau until ~30 or so, which has been his case (near 27yr old kobe production but not AS good as that year) so Kobe will likely be lights out again next year (and a "MVP contender") and then @31+ will see his stats gradually diminish. Not to say he's not an excellent player, he is, but when he was ~24 (2003-2004 season?) he was pretty damn good, comparable to this season, but getting better.

We should probably move on from the Isiah flaming, but one last shot I'm going to take is:

Jason Kidd
Gary Payton

are both WITHOUT A DOUBT better then Isiah offensively AND defensively. Although all PGs are 1st rounders in this, Isiah should've gone late 1st round (30ish?) whereas those guys should get gobbled up soon, IMO.

Gotta say I love your Dirk pick and this is precisely one of those reasons. You can completely tailor your team around Dirk. Want to go small? Play him at the C and run and gun. Want to go tall? Play him at the SF and let physical guys bang it out while he shoots over everyone at the wing. Want to go standard? Play him at the natural PF and build an orthodox team around him. Want to play fast? That's fine. Want to grind it out? That's fine. Man, Dirk is so sexy to build around. I am w/ Jack here when I don't think I could name 5 better players for this pick.

Obviously it's not the only stat that matters (or even close), but I find it interesting that 7 of the first 16 picks are players that in their entire careers have never won a championship. I think, based on the evidence presented in their careers presently, that a lot of people have been left out in favor of more trendy choices so far (I won't comment on specifics, but I'm still salivating even though I don't pick until #30).
