The roadrunner seems like the best featherweight

lolawesome right?

I was a bit worried that the sun bear isn't predatory or badass enough for this draft, but I mean it's still a ****ing bear. In this setting I think it will get angry and dominate many welters just based on its bearness.

I don't really get the electric eel pick at all, but will wait to hear an explanation from the actual owners.

Spotted hyenas are sick but I passed them because technically they don't fit into welterweight. I don't think they'd get crushed at middleweight though.

yeah it seems like kind of a pussy, but nevertheless is a bear and therefore really ****ing strong.

I think the sun bear is a pussy bear. Outside of like 4-5 bears, the rest are huge vaginas.

That was my thinking with the black bear too. It knows it is getting attacked. It is bear. It will **** **** up. Worst case, I'll have the tiger slap him around to get him going.

And you're kidding yourself if you think a single hyena has a chance at middleweight.

My previous pick was the female Orinoco Crocodile, who weighs in at 440Ibs.

My pick:

Indian Mongoose

In action:

He pwns snakes, insects, lizards. Anything small really.

which weight class is this going in? Lightweight, right?

The Mongoose is the clear and obvious pwn counter to any snake.

Everyone knows the mongoose is THE counter for snakes, but how good is he vs the other lightweights? The badger or the bobcat do very well against snakes as well and will have a good chance vs any other lightweight.

If this was the counter to my king cobra pick you kept talking about you will have to try again sir. from wiki:

Quote:
If a King Cobra encounters a natural predator, such as the mongoose, which has some resistance to the neurotoxins,[12] the cobra will generally try to flee. If all else fails, it will flatten its upper body by spreading its ribs, forming the distinctive cobra hood about its neck, which can be the size of an adult's handspan. It will also emit a high-pitched hiss, sometimes with feigned closed-mouth strikes. These efforts usually prove to be very effective, especially since the King cobra is more dangerous than other mongoose prey as well as being much too large for the small mammal to kill.

I made my dad rent this for me at least 15 times in my childhood. I don't know why he didn't save himself some money and just buy it. I was also ****ing thrilled when I found a download of it last year, and I've watched it several times since then. It's just as awesome now as it ever was (though the story, which I also re-read a million times, is of course better).

Even so, I really think the mongoose will struggle a lot against the non serpents in its weight class. And it's really not a lock against the bigger snakes either. They don't hunt anything bigger than the Indian Cobra, afaik. Even in that match, they're like 60/40 at best. Against a mamba or king cobra, I'm sure the mongoose has a *shot*, but it's probably an underdog. And bobcats and eagles will **** it up without even trying.

This. Not that I was going to take it yet, but my big board did have a hyena on the welterweight list, and it wasn't a spotted hyena precisely because of the weight. I would say re-pick a new welterweight, but we'll see what Wrane wants to do.

Okay, actually I'll admit that the bat melted my face, and I haven't really figured out what a roadrunner vs. bat fight will look like yet. I think head to head the bat might have a small edge on me, but I think my edge on the rest of the field is larger. Right now I think the featherweight class goes Roadrunner>Bat>>>>>>>All in terms of best overall picks, and that it goes Bat>Roadrunner>>>>>>All in terms of head to head at the top.

Edit: I hope I didn't let anyone down when I promised a featherweight facemelter that was better than all the bugs going in front of it. I think I'm gonna go watch it kick a rattlesnake's ass again

LOL at everyone going out of their way to say how their featherweight can beat the frog, the frog is clearly the thing to beat. Did I mention that because of its poisonous skin it tastes vile to predators so the bird will probably spit it out. Plus, as it appears to not be a bird capable of flight, it (along with the scorpion) will die just chasing the frog, because the poison is transferable to other surfaces and dogs and chickens have died merely from walking on a surface the frog has touched.

And regarding the hyena, the best argument you have is that Wikipedia lists the smaller male at 89-121 in the Serengeti, but that still comes out to an average of 105, and it's the absolute bottom-of-the barrel of their weight range. The same article goes on to say that males in Zambia average 149. National Geographic lists them at 110-190. Here it says 120-189. I really don't buy it as a welterweight at all.

This is one of those things that get repeated and sensationalized in shows trying to talk about how ZOMG deadly it is, but there's no actual danger from the poison unless it gets into your system somehow. The walking on surfaces thing is potentially dangerous only if you have like open sores on your feet, and even then you'll only be affected very rarely. Not so rarely that it never happens, which is why those shows and articles are able to point it out, but it's not something that is common. You're not going to go into the jungle and find dozens of random dead animals that just happened to walk in the wrong spot.

Just take the brown hyena or the striped hyena. They're both just under 100 and very pickable.

im not even in this thing, but a +1 to repicking a hyena. does not seem fair to push the weight below 100. esp when other hyenas fit under 100 comfortably.
