It's surprising how easily Holm defended Ronda's grappling, getting out of it easily the time they went down, and also landing a takedown of her own. Being a decidedly better striker isn't a shocker, but Ronda looked to have no grappling edge and that was surprising.

I could tell from start of fight that Holm strategy was working. She was pulling a Floyd, dancing and not getting to close to Rousey.

What will be interesting is, if they have a rematch and Rousey loses again. She will no longer be the top girl of UFC.

Watched the card with a bunch of friends and we were all making bets on the fight on how long it would take rousey to win...

Holm was really impressive with her takedown defense. Not surprising that she outstruck Ronda, that was somewhat expected. But Ronda has just flipped everyone on their heads pretty easily, nobody has been able to stop her judo until now. Holm did a great job keeping distance and not letting Ronda close.

You could see how frustrated Ronda was - she got VERY sloppy. She's so used to winning the takedown right away. After a few minutes, she was just literally chasing her around the ring sloppily with very little defense up. That's why Holm tagged her with so many straight, hard punches (before the KO). Ronda didn't know what to do when her takedowns weren't working, so straight-aggro-charging was her default strategy. Holm did a fantastic job managing the distance and not letting Ronda's bullrushing get to her. Too many women either from lack of skill or lack of experience/strategy just let themselves be bullrushed. Major props to Holm.

Ronda has good equity in a rematch IF she has a better takedown plan. She's gotta be coached up to keep her judo more technical even if it doesn't work right away. Her skill level is high enough, she just abandoned her technical ability because bumrushing is faster.

Joanna won though. Joanna is the real OG WMMA fighter. Gives zero ****s, love watching her fights. Just a killer striker. Other girl put up a good fight but her leg got turned into mush.
