Inter Messi is already in the CCL via their Leagues Cup win right? Seems a huge indictment on MLS that they're prioritizing a US Open Cup over making the playoffs

Or has to do with fact that they are buried in the standings

Winning one game versus essentially having to be flawless and get help along the way. You do the math

It’s home so makes sense to give the home fans Messi, then he rests on Sunday possibly with Open Cup final next Wednesday

Inter Messi now 5 back of DC for the last playoff spot, but with 2 games in hand. Tough fixture this Sunday though as they travel to 2nd place Orlando and will probably have an eye looking ahead to the US Open Cup Final mid-week. If they lose the Orlando match, then it could get dicey. Maybe Messi will play 30-40 minutes again.

The Fire sold a team-record 61,000 tickets to the match at Soldier Field.

After Messi's presence became unlikely, the club announced an offer to fans attending the match: a $250 account credit "toward new memberships for the 2024 season or a $50 account credit to all single-game ticket buyers who attend our match vs. Inter Miami regardless of which players are able to make an appearance on the pitch."
the funny thing is this was a big match in terms of the Fire making the playoffs (and they won). Having a big crowd had to help them play better. but pretty much no one in Chicago cares about that apparently if management has to issue refunds to "fans" after winning lol.

I am so glad Miami is out. Ive grown tired of all the overhyped bs. I was a huge fanboi of Messi but no longer.

Last night to see him bitch and moan and run his mouth against someone he fouled shows his nature when he loses. Perhaps he needed a little humbling. He is hands down the goat, does he also need to win every thing in mls in only a few games?

This very much reminds me in 96 at Arrowhead when playing the Metrostars and we were three rows back and their legend got brutally tackled and was on the ground writhing in pain. My buddy yelled “Welcome to the MLS, RAMOS!” in his funny sarcastic voice. Good times. Bye Messi, better luck next year. Its good to have a villan in the league

Miami pays Messi more than the entire wage bill of 25 MLS franchises, with Toronto, LA Galaxy and LAFC the only exceptions.
Quote:
According to the release, Sergio Busquets is making just $1.775 million in guaranteed compensation in 2023, while Jordi Alba is making $1.25 million. The Athletic previously reported Busquets was making around $26.3 million at Barcelona, but that his offer to stay in 2024 was for around $8 million. Both Busquets and Alba were reported to have deferred compensation from Barcelona to help with the club’s financial issues and were owed tens of millions in payments from the club.

The highest-paid new signings were a pair of strikers brought over from England: Teemu Pukki of Minnesota United ($3.55 million) and Sam Surridge of Nashville SC ($2.91 million).

Four teams close the season without rostering a single player earning over the designated player salary threshold of $1,651,250: the New York Red Bulls, Orlando City, the San Jose Earthquakes and Western Conference champion St. Louis City SC.
honestly pathetic for nyrb especially to be such a poverty franchise. what the hell is going on there anyway, unless they're loaning in prospects from the rb network
