I actually like the Seattle Alliance.

Honestly, Seattle Sounders is lame. WTF is a sounder? Its nothing but a stupid play on the name Puget Sound, which only part of Seattle sits on, downtown sits on Elliot Bay, which is connected to Puget Sound.

There are only a few USL names that are cool. Battery, Rhino's, and of course Timbers! Whitecaps? Phwwwwwwww.

Hell, they could take Supersonics once the owner of the NBA team hauls that franchise to Oklahoma.

Rochester Raging Rhinos are awesome. i've gone to so many of their games in the late 90's. even with the financial troubles, i really hope they survive and eventually play in the MLS. of course, that will probably only happen in some other city.

my all-time favorite FC name is Spartak. I think that or even Seattle Sparta could work.

That's lame.
Yes why no SC it seems so obvious?

Have there been any signs that MLS will eliminate or at least cut out the amount of teams in playoffs? 8 out 14 teams making the playoffs is real bad but 8 out of 16/18 isn't much better.

Bump,
I doubt it. Maybe one day as the league expands and if the Open Cup gets more popular they'll just have that and then the regular season decided off a standard home and home season. Although, I guess that kinda screws TFC out of a chance at a trophy. But I don't see any change like that, or with relegation/promotion in the foreseeable future.

8/16 isn't that different than the NHL and NBA ratios, but I agree it's less than ideal. At least they don't restrict it to 4 per conference so we don't get stuck with absolutely terrible teams.

At some point, the large contingent of US fans that follow mostly Euro soccer will ask for MLS to adopt the Euro style. If the league keeps expanding, I wouldn't be surprised if MLS bought the USL. Crazier things have happened.

Just for everyone's information, if you have Comcast (and probably other providers too, but I can't confirm) the Direct Kick package is free this weekend. So, you can start watching some MLS in about 80 minutes.

TFC/Columbus play at 4ET and will be done just in time to get some pregame for the tournament if you don't want to stick around for Chicago/RSL.

Toronto being better this year would be a big boost for a league.

Yeah for sure Mo Johnson moving upstairs to be replaced by Carver looks like a move in the right direction anyways.

JC drew it. Samuel missed it. I still don't know why he took it over Cunningham, but bleh.

Indeed it was like last season all over again they enjoy periods of possesion with no end product then lose concentration and concede a soft goal.

BTW, not sure if you guys are aware, but Colorado and Arsenal have a relationship now. The Rapids owner also owns a portion of Arsenal. Before this season started Colorado went to England and played several reserve sides, including Arsenal's. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they are better this year.

Whats the point of even watching this league if nothing even gets decided into the "Playoffs" doesn't everyone in this league make the playoffs anyway just seems like a waste of time

too many teams make the playoffs, yes. However, the team with the best record wins the Supporters Shield. Most people who watch soccer know that the team with the best record is the best team. So, for example, DC United were the best team last year. Houston won the MLS cup.

Wow, that third goal by Nyassi was pretty nice. I was really impressed by both of the Gambians NE has.
