It's cute how Cubbie fans finally win after 108 years and all of a sudden think they gonna ship another WS. Over the Yankees. Let that sink in.

4 teams in the MLB have 40 wins....and 3 of them are in the NL WEST and one of them isn't the Giants. That's a statement that just couldn't even be dreamed during spring training! Go Dbacks!!!

It is cute. It's also cute that Yankees fans think they're WS locks with a frontline rotation of Luis Severino, Michael Pineda, and Jordan Montgomery.

(Or that the Yankees' 27 WS titles has anything to do with this 2017 team.)

It's cute how non Yankee fans get so defensive. I never said the Yankees were winning the WS. I was laughing at Cubs fans thinking they shipping a WS w/ 79 wins and cherry picking the Yankees to be the team to beat.

Why the Yankees? They don't even have the best record in the AL. Insecure much?

You said the Yankees, idk man, those were your words.

Also I agreed that Cubs fans were cute (and I wasn't kidding).

If by insecure you mean that I think my favorite team sucks this year, I do, but I'm (relatively) at peace with that reality. Plus they're not in the NL, so I'm not really concerned with the Yankees on a personal level.

Your team scored 20 runs tonight don't worry

Those weren't my words.

I replied to this.

He singled out the Yankees losing to the Cubs in the WS, not me.

As far as I'm concerned, the Yankees are free rolling this year. They weren't supposed to contend til 2018. They aren't even listed in the poll in the thread.

Oh, well lol me then, I misunderstood. I agree about the Yankees.

It is truly a dark day when the Minnesota Twins are a markedly better team that the St. Louis Cardinals. Fortunately for me, all of my friends from back home don't remotely believe in this Twins team because they've had their love of BEISBOL destroyed by Gardyball.

LOOOOL, my whole post was nothing more than a joke about how the NL Central is so terrible that a sub-.500 team could literally end up winning it and that said team would then have about as much chance as anyone in the crapshoot that is the MLB playoffs. I threw in the Yankees as my hypothetical victim only because their fans have been particularly insufferable here lately with their recent success and, well, here we are again. I don't actually think the Yankees or the Cubs are favorites to make the WS.

Let that sink in.

anyone else think it's weird that the Jays and Dbacks have the same odds to win the WS?

I guess the bookies think they Jays are much better than their record and are gonna go on a run.

2 things:

- First, it's not the bookies, but the money that makes the odds. If the Jays are given the same odds as the DBacks despite their current records, it means money has come in on the Jays and the Bookies want to balance it. Never underestimate the power of homers. That's why the Cubs and Sox are pretty much always bad bets.

- Second, before last night, Fangraphs had the Jays at about 45% to make the playoffs.

Personally, I'm surprised at the spread between the Astros and Yanks. Given the crapshoot of the playoffs and the popularity of the Yanks, I'd have thought they'd be a lot closer. Can't see ever taking any team to win at +425 pre-October.

I feel ripped off having the Yankees at 26-1 preseason. They should have been at least 60-1 IMO.

Yeah, I can't believe the Cubs have literally ever represented value. I'm also intrigued by the length of the Yankees at this point.

Rockies must be a decent bet there.

This is what I always thought but people in SE told me that's not how it works

Funny. From a Sox fans perspective, I always hated playing those teams, especially in the baggy dome. I thought Gardenhire was well thought of there. Won a lot of a divisions. But that's it.

Yeah actually I can't off the top of my head think of that much about how the early days of Target Field have gone. I seem to recall two first round exits at the hand of ARod.

I'm glad there's a live game right now! Even if it is the most ridiculous possible combination of teams.

Basically one good season followed by 6 seasons of utter ****. (Even 2015 when they were above .500 was **** because it was really just one great month of May and the rest below .500)
