Jose Bautista has a .370 wOBA, 135 wRC+, .864 OPS despite being dead last by a wide margin among qualified hitters in BABIP with .197 (second lowest is Eric Hosmer at .222).

Can't wait until he starts running good.

history is littered with guys who tried to catch on in independent leagues with knuckleballs after their MLB career ended, including Mark Lemke

Glad RA Dickey embarrasing the O's could help spark this convo up.

I ain't even mad, really. On to the next one. Dudes legit unhittable. It's unfair for everybody.

On a related note, Jonesy now #1 (well, tied with HamilGod) in fangraphs AL WAR.

Def some jellies itt.

So, uh, when did Bautista start raking so hard? I remember a few weeks ago (maybe a month?) he was very pedestrian. Just saw his stats and all of a sudden he's got 20 HRs and 50 RBIs? Guess he's not falling off like I (and others) thought he was going to.

I don't mean fall off fall off, I mean just like a little fall off... but he won't do that either.

Whoa that was really strange. I hope he is ok.

i think we need to rehash the gross incompetence of lol robin ventura as i don't think it was discussed itt

white sox have one of, if not the worst bullpen in the majors

white sox are up 1-0 sunday heading into the 9th

quintana has been ****ing dominant. 8 innings, 0 runs, 5 hits, 0 walks, 6 k's. more importantly, quintana has thrown only 77 pitches

quintana is pulled for reed, the closer of the worst bullpen in baseball

reed blows the save

dodgers win in 10

My wife has had a few instances like this, she called them stupid auras (normally she just can't see before a headache). Like the article says, I hope that's it.

Not sure if Ventura had the sign on but Adam Dunn did square up to bunt one AB vs the Dodgers

white sox bullpen has 4 very good pitchers (at least this year) Reed, is one of them. The fact they gave 80IP to Santiago, Ohman, Stewart of combined 6FIP doesnt make him bad, just because he's a member of that group

ok, it's not fair to say he's as bad as the rest of the group, but even taking away the 6 run game his numbers are pretty underwhelming and don't really qualify him as a "very good pitcher." my broader point is more pulling quintano at all is pretty egregious regardless of who is coming in to close

I just made that post about Plouffe in the Twins thread like yesterday, for reference:

Plouffe BABIP: .217; wOBA: .376; wRC+: 140

Sounds to me Rangers announcer had some kind of minor stroke

Anyone seen this Arroyo/Chapman video? Can only imagine how long that took Aroldis who can't speak a lick of english.

DIP DIP DIP! SHAMALAMADINGDONG!

4 eh? Jones and Reed are both unproven really, but they are looking somewhat decent. I hope Thorton dies tho, I dont care what you have to say about him.

Also, saying their bullpen is terrible undersells the wonder of Gavin and Humber (and danks). Can we just say Pitching staff minus Peavy and Sale?

Pulling a starter who's on their 4th trip through the lineup for a reliever in the 9th inning of a baseball game is almost always going to be the correct move. Only a few circumstances where the starter is either that elite or the bullpen is that bad where it'd be otherwise IMO. I don't think his pitch count really matters at all.
06-19-2012 , 05:57 PM
Use Matt Cain's perfect game for example: If Bochy was immediately killed upon the Astros scoring one run in the 9th then he def doesn't send Cain back out there, and that's with the bottom 3 in the order coming up only having seen Cain twice.

The Rockies going with 4-man rotation consisting of Alex White, Christian Friedrich, Jeff Francis, and Josh Outman. Pitchers will be on a 75-pitch limit.

Are the Rockies the worst run organization in the sport?
06-19-2012 , 07:24 PM
To rest the bullpen, mind you.
06-19-2012 , 07:29 PM
Holy Christ, I didn't even hear about that part.
06-19-2012 , 07:32 PM
Yep.
06-19-2012 , 07:32 PM
Is that really so terrible? You get your best pitchers, pitching more often, when they are most effective. SP probably pitch too many pitches on average at this point anyway.
06-19-2012 , 07:38 PM
Dear god, that is awful. And if those are their best pitchers, then that is the worst staff in baseball history.
