lolAngels bringing Ohtani back to pitch against the Astros Sunday. Might as well **** his arm permanently, for no reason on the road, against one of the best lineups.

How quickly we forgot what he did. 13 years .859 OPS - not bad.

Howard was a pretty forgettable player outside of having a ton of HR and RBI for a few years. He hit 382 HR and was worth 15 WAR according to BR. Fangraphs is slightly kinder on his defense giving him 20 WAR.

I get he wasn't great, but he was still was integral to the WS team and chicks love the long ball. Last year Marwin Gonzalez probably played a bigger role than Howard did in any season, but MarGon will not be remembered. Howard has 3 top 3 MVP votes. Dingers!

Mel Ott is so fascinating, really took advantage of his home ballpark.

There's a cool case study I read about professional teams building stadiums in residential neighborhoods. It's long and I would have to go through my school server so I'd probably have to pm it.

Why did they wait 5 months until they completely blew out the arms of the best bullpen in baseball to grab a starter/more pitching? Especially now that they can add the 40.

I just realized that 40-man rosters plus huge NL wildcard race equals 6-hour games for the entire NL

also, definitely coming around to "why the hell is the most important month of the season played with spring training-sized rosters"

Steve Stone last night suggested a solution would be to limit teams to 25 active players per game, regardless of how many you carry in September. Makes sense, but with 4 SPs and perhaps a tired arm or two in the pen you can still have unnecessarily deep pens and benches.

J.D. Martinez currently leads the MLB in both hits and homeruns (tie). Who's the last player to finish with the lead in both categories?

Sammy Sosa

Indians get Donaldson, not sure where he is going to play. Indians are stacked up right there with the Astros for WS favorites.

Between Tulo's heel spurs issue (which I think only came to light a week or so before opening day), and Donaldson's unrepairable 2+ year calf problem, one or more people on the medical and management side of the Jays need a good smack in the chops.

Will miss Donaldson, for sure, but he was going anyway as we are clearly in a rebuild. As for Tulo, I have given up that the "real" Tulo will ever be back to his former self, and I really don't care if he ever plays another game for us.

I guess it is easy to say in hindsight, but the Martin/Tulo 40M per year combo has been a flop... Next year I think the Jays have 56M tied up in Martin/Tulo and Morales.

Blah, that is Vernon Wells bad... But, the future looks good... In 3 or 4 years we could be very good...
