Here is the question: would you like to see beanballs and brawls mostly eliminated from MLB, or does the fun of that spectacle outweigh the cost of injuries in your mind?

Follow ups:

1. Who has been injured from a brawl?

2. Who has been injured by being intentionally hbp?

Most injuries from being hit happen when a guy is trying to pitch inside and catches a guy on the hand/wrist area. Getting hit in the ass has never resulted in an injury.

The Giants placed rookie pitcher Dereck Rodriguez on the 10-day DL with a hamstring injury on Thursday, per multiple reports. The injury was apparently sustained when Rodriguez stepped into the physical altercation between Puig and Giants catcher Nick Hundley.

Off the top of my head, in recent history, Greinke missed significant time because of a broken collarbone. Mike Morse pretty much ended his career. Jason Larue also had a very serious concussion that ended his career.

There are a lot of examples if you go back earlier in time.

I can't remember which injuries were from intentional v. unintentional beanballs. But tons of players miss time from HBP every year. And it's pretty ridiculous to think that pitchers can intentionally hit players with 90-100 mph fastballs without creating a risk of serious injury. If Acuna had been hit in a slightly different place, he very easily could have had a fractured elbow that would have ended his season.

Mike Morse got a concussion in the Harper/Strickland intentional bean ball brawl and never played again

I just had a thought, when expressed into words it could sway some minds. Not here though, of course! MLB Regular Season 2018

If I took 97MPH square anywhere on my body, it would immediately become the 2nd worst physical trauma of my life.

Thats not fair to intentionally do to someone over baseball.

If so, you've run exceptionally well at avoiding physical trauma. Obviously the accident that tops the list for you is exponentially worse than a fastball to the hip and I hate you had to deal with that.

Speaking of which, are you all healed up and recovered? I forget how long it's been.

Yeah, Im pretty much back to normal, which feels amazing. Whole thing seems surreal. I havent tried to run or been to the batting cages yet though. It was in January.

Ive sprained thumbs and ankles, but yeah fortunate for the most part. Still think 97 in the ribs would be worse.

same people in here bitching about bean ball wars are the ones watching football every saturday and sunday

(and if they aren't, its because players can't kneel, not because of the massive amount of damage done to players brains)

I think we all complain about cheap shots in football too, no one complains about physical contact that is expected as part of the game.

Is using the helmet as a weapon "part of the game"? Because people sure are butthurt about not being able to do that anymore.

"as a weapon" like the odell beckham shot on josh norman? yeah everyone agrees thats bad

random 15 yard penalties because the offensive player moves into where you were already tackling? not so much

Lol, about the reply I'd expect. "They never do it on purpose. It's just accidental because the guy moved".

Has anyone in this thread been to 30+ major league stadiums (at least one for every single team)? Favourites? Worst? Weirdest thing to happen?

fwiw as an one time d lineman, this is accurate and infuriating. not "never" of course, but a shoulder/face mask in the chest becomes a head shot when the receiver ducks
