Stupid question: Why is the run scored when Warren was pitching credited to Severino?

Runs are always credited to whoever allowed the baserunner to reach.

true with an exception

say pitcher a leaves with a man on first
pitcher b comes in and the next batter grounds into a fielders choice, with the runner on first being forced out at second and the batter reaching first.

if that batter ends up scoring it will be charged to pitcher a not pitcher b.

Agreed when he's talking about training methods. That's what makes it so mind boggling he doesn't understand how the contract system works. If he wants to be mad at anything it should be his union not the organization.

He quite obviously understands how the contract system works. I completely fail to see how you guys are coming to this conclusion.

Also, he missed arbitration eligibility by 16 games while the org was watching Matt Adams cost them games (and a playoff spot) in a left field experiment the whole world mocked every step of the way. Seems he knows exactly who and what cost him. I’d be pretty pissed at the org (clown show manager included) also.

It's the same laughable system that had Bryant in the minors a couple years ago and Acuna this year. Even if we assume it was a decision that stemmed solely from stopping his arbitration starting (a stretch, considering all of the matt adams love at the time), its not a single organization issue-rather a bigger issue with the current cba, a deal that the union struck, and thats who he (And acuna, and bryant, and how many other before him) should be pissed at more so than the organization he's currently in. Literally every organization does it

Btw, as to Pham's future with the eye condition, it shouldn't degenerate any further. Kerataconus almost always stops progressing by 30. And there are now approved treatments that will make sure it doesn't progress.

Hint to the dense: the Cardinals are part of the system and do their part to ensure that the CBA benefits their extremely wealthy owner over people like Tommy Pham. Tommy Pham knows this because it is very obvious.

As to being mad at the union versus the Cardinals:

hint to the dense: the cardinals (and every single pro franchise) do what they do because they are a business, and should be doing what they need to to benefit their extremely wealthy owner ldo. Pham has people who are suppose to represent him and they aren't doing their job. clearly misplaced hate

Nah, because the vast majority get rich by exploiting people, and I don't mean athletes. /politard

Sports teams should be community owned anyway.

No, hate them for using their wealth to gain a federally granted monopoly that both exploit the public and labor at an extreme, disgusting level.

Pitchforks, mannn

Just because you think being a professional baseball player is really cool and making 500,000 is a lot of money doesn't make the whole thing absolutely ridiculous

Couldn't you DH for a different position? Play your worst hitter in the field or your backup catcher or something and dh for them? Or does the rule only allow the DH to be for the pitcher?

Seems like you can maximize your offensive potential for first 5-6 innings and that makes up for pitching spot having to bat after that when you have an extra pinch hitter available anyway

DH can only be used for the pitcher and if you don't name one you forfeit it for the rest of the game.

Well, let's look at the reality of the situation.

You may not feel sorry for Tommy Pham, but what they did to minor league players clearly demonstrates what kind of craven scum we are dealing with here. Players were standing up for their rights, as you say they should, just to get ****ing MINIMUM WAGE. And MLB just went behind their backs to pay off politicians to literally rig the laws in their favor:

Absolutely sickening people we are dealing with here.

Not so. It's quite common for some Nhl teams to bring up favored ahl prospects at odd times for just a day or 2, to give them a couple days Nhl level pay. Could mean as much as a 20K bonus for a player making 100K for a full season in the minors. It pays off in reputation for the franchise.

Buffalo Sabres just did this with Casey Middelstadt. His college season just ended and they signed him to a deal now and brought him up for the last month of the season which burns a full year off his entry level contract instead of waiting a month and getting 2 full years on his first deal. The team is almost in last place with no shot at the playoffs and burned a full rookie contract year of one of their top prospects

It seems pretty clear he lost those 16-days due to front office incompetence, which is arguably even more frustrating for him. Again, it’s qiite clear reading the article (and other offseason quotes by him) that he understands the system at an expert level. He comes off as one of the smarter players I have ever seen in terms of understanding of modern stats and training methods. Demonstrably superior to his own manager, who should be an expert himself.

I’m wondering if you’ve read the article and if so what quote suggests he doesn’t understand the system.

not only that some teams have brought players back for a game for pension reasons. the yankees did this with ramiro mendoza long after he was totally washed up.

some teams have also called up lifetime minor leaguers who were in their last year in baseball bc if you play one game in mlb you get great health insurance for life.
