Meanwhile the Rays got another 1 run win. They're 4-0 in one run games this year. Clutch baby.

umps just blew what seemed to be a really obvious challenge in the bos/NYY game. i have to imagine there's some sort of rule or something, cause i dunno how else they can say safe.

dean anna slides into second, sox apply the tag, while he's getting up (and the tag is still on him) his foot separates from the bag. time was not called afaik. replay says safe.

he was out but it's kinda absurd anyway since he was so clearly safe initially and XB shouldn't be allowed to hold the glove on him for 10 seconds like that while the guy is twisted in multiple directions trying to get up

I just don't understand what's going on with some of these replays. I mean he was CLEARLY 100% without a doubt off the ****ing bag. He's out. Period.

That play happens all the time. Runners come off the bag just by getting up, but usually it happens really quickly and isn't obvious to see. Should just make the rule that it is a dead ball after the slide unless the runner makes an obvious attempt to advance.

What if Jim Leyland was out of challenges for the last play of Armando Galarraga's almost perfect game?

+1. Lol @ the Boston fans ITT wanting that minuscule technicality to count as an out. Replay was instituted to improve the integrity of the game, not to be abused for cheap advantages

I feel the Red Sox trading away Donaldson was an error in judgement

And I also feel the JJ trade was bill bean trying to fool the mark gms into thinking he's fallabale when he comes knocking for the next Donaldson

Red Sox fan here.

It's an inconsequential out in the game, so it doesn't really matter. However, it's been a part of the game forever, you have to stay on the bag after the slide. ****, we did the same stuff in little league, holding the tag to make sure. If the wanna change the rule I would support that, dead ball after the safe Call or whatever. However, an ump can't go look at a clear out and call it safe because he feels like the rule shouldn't apply, that's ludicrous.
Edit: and I would say the same if the call was against Boston.

And to that point, I guess they are saying the reviewer didn't have the same angle the viewing public had, which in a way may be more troubling lol
