In that case your EV of making the playoffs this year is probably slightly lower (even though Davis being worth 3war and Myers being replacement is a pretty huge outlier on their projections), but your EV of making playoffs in the next 5 years is much, much higher

My point is the logic is just flawed, I mean what if next year Rays win WS on the back of Odorizzi/Myers, the trade becomes bad again? And then good if they trade Davis for a super prospect who becomes the new Alex Gordon
