If the ball hits a base runner you mean? That's the 3rd out. Inning over. Hitter gets credit a single based on scorer's judgement. Otherwise ruled a FC.

i worded that really poorly, I guess, and then kind of confused myself. It's a subrule 5.08 or 5.09 iirc. If a runner is stealing home and gets hit by the pitch, it's a deadball, he gets the base, and all runners advance. Obviously I meant to write "if the ball hits the runner" and not batter, and then compounded that by forgetting what I was talking about. All in all, a pretty good Saturday.

Edit- 5.09h

Quote:
The ball becomes dead and runners advance one base, or return to their bases, without liability to be put out, when -- [snip]
(h) Any legal pitch touches a runner trying to score; runners advance.
So really, nothing relevant to anything anybody was talking about before I chimed in.

So the A's just gave up after they traded away Cespedes huh?

Or maybe they're too busy praying that the Tigers win the central to focus on their own games.

Tigers are probably going to end up in 3rd in the Central.

Anyone who saw the giants game yesterday saw WIM personified at some of the highest levels ever recorded.

That Brandon Crawford double play to keep peavys no hitter intact deserves an award on its own.

And peavy, my lord what a competitor and you can tell the organization's standard of excellence is rubbing off nicely. Peavy the last 4 starts has pitched 28 innings and has just 4 earned runs in that time.

It doesn't not matter BEANE you gonna have to face the Tigers sooner or later. Your demise is not a matter of if but a matter of when.

Every Jap pitcher that comes over gets hurt. When are teams going to realize this?

has there ever been a better/similar strikeout pitcher with less "stuff" than mike fiers? dude can't get it over 90 yet mows people down. his secondary stuff is far from exceptional (decent curve and change) so i'm curious if there's any precedent for a nibbler to be K'ing at this rate. deceptive delivery helps too. obviously a very small sample at the ML level but he was similarly unhittable in the minors this year too.
