Not sure I ever knew who Mark Belanger was but apparently he was a really good defensive SS for the Orioles in the 60s-early 80s.

Guy put up 39.4 bref dWAR in 6,600 plate appearances worth of baseball. Damn. Wasn't bad with the stick either. Career 41 WAR in 6,600 PAs.

8 time GG winner but still must be severely underrated if I've never heard of him. I mean I was 3 when he retired but still.

I vaguely remember reading a story about Ensberg in ESPN magazine about a bunch of Astros minor leaguers getting robbed at gunpoint in a hotel room during spring training and how he hated to be around crowds of strangers because of that.

ETA: Belanger all glove no stick, but left side of BAL infield pretty sick with him and Brooks Robinson

cardinals are a small market team and can't afford to purchase players through FA so they need to gamble with their prospects

that is why they are involved in the compensation draft

i'm guessing they just wear a generic green hat and they put whatever team on it?

I clicked on the yahoo gamechannel on sunday to check on SF vs. LAD. Brian Wilson pitching for the Dodgers (wearing a SF hat in the picture) was facing Mike Morse (batting for SF but pictured wearing a Nationals hat). Thought that was funny.
