This is the first trade the Marlins have made that got a decent return.

Still can't believe they traded Ozuna for total aids.

Jesus, they had an outfield of Ozuna Yelich and Stanton. Thats pretty good.

jeter is pathetic. they needed like two pitchers to be able to be a playoff team and their best players were all mid 20s.

If Griffey( the most iconic player of the the 90's), and Randy(the best pitcher of the generation behind Clemens) didn't do it, Mariano ain't gone do it.

Assuming Braun or Santana are traded (I'm guessing Santana), I think Phillips will be the 4th OF. He's an elite CF with the best arm at the position in MLB (possibly out of all OF) and his hitting started coming on as he got more playing time toward the end of the year.

If he doesn't get traded, Phillips is the starting CF of the future for the Brewers unless management can't stand his strikeout rate, which is quite possible, as it looks like one of the strategies in these acquisitions was to cut down on strikeouts.

Milwaukee is shopping outfielders Domingo Santana and Keon Broxton as it looks for an upgrade to its rotation, according to Nightengale. Rosenthal suggests a bit more softly that the Brewers are open to offers on Santana but aren’t eager to trade him, hoping instead to at times run out an outfield of Yelich, Cain and Santana. The organization has discussed the idea of utilizing Ryan Braun at first base on occasion, Rosenthal adds. While Yelich, Cain, Santana, Braun and Eric Thames make five players for four spots, though certainly that depth wouldn’t be a bad thing for the Brewers to carry into the 2018 season.

Also, Brett Phillips is in the mix.

Todd Van Poppel was the consensus top choice coming out in the 1990 draft, but he said ahead of time that he wouldn't sign with Atlanta. So they ended up selecting Chipper. Todd Van Poppel had a negative career WAR in 11 seasons.

I'm still going to be ok retiring on my Todd Van Poppel rookie cards though, right?

Awesome, Dbacks signed a relief pitcher "with closing experience" who had a worse WAR than Rodney did last year. Somehow we might have actually downgraded that position.

Tribe to drop Wahoo from uniforms next year. Not surprising considering Manfred would have yanked the All-Star game if they didn't. Step in the right direction.

Astros give George Springer 2/24mil for years 4 and 5 of arbitration. The Astros were offering $8.5 and Springer wanted $10.5. It seems like such an obviously deal to make, rather than telling your WS MVP how he isn't as valuable as he thinks he is and still leaving that last year of arb there.

arbitration values are jacked. its going to be hard to fix the CBA since it currently punishes future players more than current ones but players getting far below market for 6 years is stupid.

jt realmuto has put up 2.2/2.6/3.6 war in his first three seasons and was awarded less than $3M. wtf

Some group of players is going to get boned in a few years. Unless the players strike and somehow overlap getting veterans their backpay and youngsters paid for their early year's work.
