No, I just took the OBP averages & total PAs for each batting order position from the NL for each of the past 5 seasons on baseball reference & did the weighted averages myself.

That is interesting. I can't think of anyone outside of Joe Maddon who hit their pitcher in the 8th hole last year, and that was only occasionally. It would be nice to have that data, though. It'd be nice to include AL teams playing in NL parks as well, but I don't know where I'd find that data at.

La Russa did it often with justification that Pujols gets more PAs in higher leverage situations, but obv that was awhile ago. I think he's the most famous example.

pujols furious that someone would ask if he thinks he can put up trout's numbers when as he says only bonds could put up my numbers!

Pretty aggressive response for somebody who is one of the most generous players in baseball with charitable contributions & appearances and a reportedly all-around good guy.

03-07-2014 , 03:48 AM

Speaking of Albert, I was browsing past years' MVP voting recently. 2008 results:

1. Pujols (9.2 WAR)
2. Ryan Howard (1.7 WAR)
8. Brad Lidge (ruh roh)
14. Chase Utley (9.0 WAR)

Steadily making progress...
03-07-2014 , 03:19 PM
Wow Howard being 2nd w/ 1.7 and Utley 14th w/ 9.0 WAR is LOLBAD.

Howard had a ton of hr and RBI though.

Can't win games without RBI.

speaking of, does he make the hall if he just finishes his career with a couple more 3-4war seasons with no personal accolades? he's a nobrainer with advanced stats, but the type of guy they could exclude, no shiny trophies, avg, homers and it was Ryan Howard's RBI!!!! that won phillies the rang. Could def see him being left out

he has no chance with the current voters, if they change their views in 5-10 years then who knows

True story. In Washington state some girl scout troup set up outside a pot shop & sold more girl scout cookies than any other troup in the country. I guess word got out, because in the same report, I read that girl scouts in Colorado are doing the same thing now.

Btw, has the Phillies leak to the NCAA on the 2 draft picks they didn't sign this past year been discussed itt? Fascinating imo, particularly how that could impact not just the Phillies, but all of baseball with future potential draftees withholding information such as medical history, signing expectations, etc. from teams.

Santana 1/$14 with mystery team!

Edit- Heh, guess not. It was weirdly worded on MLBTR.
