So he had a lot to prove in 2020, didn't he? How did that turn out?

Well, I pulled up his baseball reference page to check back in. Surely, since the cheating didn't actually help and didn't really happen, according to the Astros anyway, he'd be back to his all-star self. But come to find out, he put up a negative WAR, which means that any decent player in the upper minors would have been more valuable than him. Wow. That's a .219 batting average, which is fine if you're a pitcher in the NL. His on base percentage was .286, which is about what a bona fide major league would achieve without even using a bat. It's almost like he didn't know what pitch was coming ahead of time.

My question for you is, are you still a huge Jose Altuve supporter or have you reassessed at all?
Remember when MLB looked the other way when the Yankees did more than what got the Astros nuked? Altuve is still on the fence of the HOF currently.

This is what the people on twitter call "whataboutism". Apparently, it makes all your counterpoints invalid, although I'm not entirely sure why.

In all seriousness, what the Astros did was beyond the pale. As a fan that's been around for more than a couple decades, I was surprised (and still am) that the "Black Sox" are banned but that the Astros are not only welcomed back across the league, but it's considered poor taste to even bring up the Astros decade-plus long cheating. To be quite honest, it made me less of a MLB fan, and it made me respect Rob Manfred less, and the whole sport feels more like WWE type trash to me now than it ever did when I was growing up and looking up to more ethical players like Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens.

I'm not a Yankees fan btw. I'm sure they did dirty things too. Not nearly as dirty though. Child's play in comparison. The Astros took it to the next level, even christening part of their ops department as the "Black Ops Department". Black ops in baseball huh? That's garbage.

But you answered the question. You buy into the Altuve being better than any random triple-A player hype, and I can only disagree vehemently.

Go take your pills old man, this **** was boringly argued 2 years ago here(unsuccessfully by me). Nobody wants this**** again. Every team from Little League on up tries to steal signs.

Spoiler:
J/k I get some of the hate from fans of teams being outsmarted by a guy banging a trashcan.

I haven't played for decades because I've convinced myself I can spend that time better elsewhere, but I'd love to read it. I'm also pretty sure I'll be betting Braves to win the WS this year so some steering there would be good too.

PM me your email address

For the Braves, the East definitely got better, but I still think we're the best team in the division

Only thing I'm worried about, for this upcoming year as it was last year, is how anybody can take 4 out of 7 vs the Dodgers

**** the Dodgers. I'm not rooting for it, but they have some injuries incoming from the usual suspects.

How about we just do who has more wins on the season?

I'll take Braves, you have Mets... $20? Quote to book. Paypal or Venmo

You know, in case the Marlins and Manager of the Year Don Mattingly ship the division

Good grief TJ you're running angles on a website that's based on poker. The last place to try to run angles. I'll take the Braves over all NL East teams and I'll give +180 to the rest of the field. In baseball these days, most teams aren't trying to win, so any team with real talent is just gonna run away with it. In the NL East, that's the Braves. They somehow locked up Albies and Acuna for something close to 8 years and minimum wage for both, so they can do whatever they want when it comes to acquisitions and so forth. If the Braves are in 2nd place in May, they'll just acquire German Marquez or Trevor Story and keep on killin it.

Do any of you guys get MLB.tv? I'm considering getting it this year but am wondering if they have any deals at the beginning of the season I should wait for.

I think there's only one team in the East that's not trying to win it (Nationals).

The Marlins are young but they can really pitch

The Mets certainly had an offseason to be excited about. I read from some sportsbook that the Mets have the most tickets and most total $ for WS futures

The Phillies still seem to think they can fix their problems by lighting money on fire

IIRC MLB.tv is given out for free to T-Mobile customers in the first week of the season or something, or at least I remember poster talking about something similar in several previous years.

Other than that I'm not aware of start of season deals. But you can however share an account with up to 3 other people (at least you always could for the last >5 years). My sub already auto-renewed because I'm an idiot, so if you're (or anyone else is) interested, pm me

From what I remember from having done it in past years, (no idea if this is still how it works), you need:

1) T-Mobile to be your wireless carrier
2) An MLB.tv account, which is an email login/password that's free, and download their app
3) To also download some silly app called "T-Mobile Tuesdays," where they claim to drop free stuff every Tuesday for T-Mobile users, when it's really just catfishing type stuff designed for you to give more of your personal information to 3rd-party vendors

Then, for ONLY like a 10-day window in late March, one of the T-mobile Tuesday promos will be a free MLB.tv season-long subscription (~$130 or something value).

You get a code, cash that in on your MLB account, and then every time you log in to MLB.tv, you can stream to your phone, for free, every single MLB game, subject to blackout restrictions

...and then snap-delete "T-Mobile Tuesdays" and you're golden

I haven't seen if they're doing that this year, or even if all the above is still valid, so ymmv.

EDIT: I googled it, and according to this link, it starts March 30th... and I think the above is more or less correct

Wow! I just switched to T-Mobile and completely forgot about their MLB.tv promotion.

Also funny, we were in the store to switch, my first time ever in a T-Mobile store, and people kept walking in and walking out. I asked the guy doing our phones why all these people kept coming and he was like "Oh it's T-Mobile Tuesdays" They were giving away bandanas for dogs. wtf. Like literal junk and people were going out of their way, and as I just learned itt giving up personal information, for bandanas for their dogs.

Anyway, gonna look into the MLB.tv promotion. That's big time

You don't need to stream from your phone. You can stream anywhere you can stream mlb.tv (computer, ipad, connected TV, etc.). It is linked to your mlb.tv account, not your phone or phone #.
