I think the guy is just hurt all the time, which throws off his mechanics. He always has a bunch of little injuries spread out over the year, the ones I saw documented in 2009 were a quad strain and forearm strain, but he's probably had issues with his arm and other aches as well.

I don't see him shutting down NY tonight. Even if he's healthy, like you said, his strikeouts are down and he's issuing too many walks (2.60 K/BB rate with Anaheim in 36.1 IP). He's kept the ball in the park, but he really can't afford to walk many people, so he might be in over his head unless he pulls out some K's (which is doubtful).

Kazmir's line at Fenway in the ALDS was 6 IP, 5 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, 1 SO, 1 HR.

Unlikely as it is, the idea that Mariano Rivera, the Hammer of God himself, might throw some old-fashioned outlaw stuff to escape a tight spot is, to be frank, just about the coolest thing ever.
he didn't actually do it, but even if he did, this.

Pulling Damon seemed reasonable to me at the time, but with the pitcher spot coming up 3rd the top of the inning it seems pretty marginal/possibly terrible unless Hairston has a cannon compared to Damons girly arm. PLUS they had Mathis running at 3rd base still, so you might not need a cannon to get him.

i don't think damon would have had any better shot at getting Mathis' double either.

I could do a throwing program for like a month and have a stronger arm than Damon

What does that have to do with "location?" Confused. Regardless, no reason needed to link to the dugout, it is a universal symbol of internet awesome.
