you can have 2 guys reach base before the tying run is even up to bat, please demonstrate why you think its not a big deal?

i mean literally the very next game you got a clear example of why it was such a costly mistake.
I don't follow the "next game" argument - Jansen was available and he pitched the 9th. Roberts decided to stick with Blanton "because he saw it in his eyes."

If anything is BOLD CAPS RANT worthy, I would have put my money on that.

I conceded out of the gate the decision, in a vacuum, is bad - but given other factors, it was defensible.

That's my opinion. I understand you think otherwise, and that is okay with me. My bigger point is that despite Roberts showing severe lack of seasoning at times, he has to be doing something right with this club.

i don't think roberts should get credit for the giants having the worst record in baseball post all-star break.

lets be honest here if they had played .500 ball since the break we would not be applauding dave's managerial skills and saying "he's doing something right".

i do admit he has kept this team from falling apart despite an insane amount of injuries and for that i give him credit, but as a in game manager he is ****ing atrocious and i wish i was smart enough to quantify the actual number of runs or win probability his idiocy has cost us.

He's gonna get overlooked cuz Seager and cuz he had a bad first month but Justin turner's not only really underrated, he's prolly the NL MVP

I think the LAD front office gets the credit for the team not falling apart. See "moves, depth" and "Greinke, Zach".

Utley and Chooch now Dodgers. It's going to feel so dirty but I have to root for them this post season with two of the GOATS looking to make another post season run.

Someone on the Giants just hit a ball over the wall...does that count for extra points or something?

What they do is let you keep running all the way around until you score.

Carlos Gomez gets released by the Astros, signed by the Rangers, goes to AAA, then hits a three-run homer in his first MLB AB with the Rangers tonight. Not bad.

There isn't one (also, it's Rizzo, not Bryant), but Turner's definitely overrated. The NL West has a lot of guys like that... I mean, apparently even Goldschmidt's agent didn't know how good he was.

there's none. bryant is obviously better but i hate sortbyWAR as the mvp definition cuz where's the fun in that

over the last 70 or so games turner has the greater OPS and likely a greater WAR, over that stretch the doyers went from terrible to 1st in the NLW with little more than turner, seager and jansen, and the cubs have a metric ton even without bryant

Scully sounds like a tired old cooter much of the time, but when the moment calls for it, he still knows how to bring it. Listening to him recount the history of Giants and Dodgers no-hitters (only two franchises to record NHs in four consecutive seasons) was pure poetry.

I'm reserving judgement, good and bad, but his name sounds too much like Matt Morris and he's been pitching too much like Damian Moss.

It's not Rizzo. It's also not turner. It's Bryant or seager. I don't think it's close on either of those accounts.

It's definitely Turner...

Trea Turner. Had MLB on earlier and learned from a certain Mr. Harold Reynolds that it's because he has ALL FIVE TOOLS.

Anyone else old enough to remember *Mike* Moore, pitcher for Mariners and As back in the 80s, early 90s. He was pretty good.

Was a fair question imo, he hit 20+ each of the last two innings.
