as a mark teixeira owner this annoys me

Was he responsible for all three outs in the 2nd?

yup. A guy pitching like that would never work as a starter today. Ryan would've been a reliever if he came along today for sure.

Thanks, got a link or anything?

So the answer is around 80%. About what I had figured based on the info I had.

This is the info I had, only for 2008

I would have thought the percentage for zero and one outs would be higher. People suck at sack flies I guess (or putting the ball in play, runs)

Is this idea of mine original?

In golf, different clubs are used for different situations. It seems logical to me that in different at bat situations a different bat might be ideal?

You might have a "2 strike count" bat, a "3-0 count" bat, an "RISP with less than 2 out" bat, and a bunting bat, for example. Maybe a "vs flamethrowers" and "vs junkballers"

The bats wouldnt have to vary by much to have a useful effect IMO. A batboy could quickly switch them with you at close to no delay.

Not a brutal idea conceptually, but two things get in the way. 1) rules and regs re: bat size, shape etc and 2) Hitters being accustomed to knowing their weapon. Keep switching it up and you could mess with timing re: The bat as an extension of the player, feeling instead of thinking, that kind of thing.

Confirmed bitch of the Giants Mat Latos and NLCS HERO Mike Morse to doyers

Apparently doyers also get a compensatory pick the Marlins had that's expected to be used as a major piece in a deal for hamels or price. That's no good

Latos has been deceptively good this year and especially so since he returned from dl

Wouldn't be shocked if Morse is DFA'ed. He looks like cash in that deal.

with the dodgers getting latos, does that eliminate them from going after price or hamels? or is it more of a backup plan if they miss out on either of the 2 big names...?

Kinda cool trivia question I heard yesterday.

What 4 players have hit a home run in their teens and in their 40's?

Obv AROD

Spoiler:
Ty Cobb
rusty staub
Gary Sheffield

Jayson Stark: "#Padres flooding pitching market with controllable starters (Shields, Cashner, Ross)."

Dodgers, Yanks, and Jays reportedly "warring" for Price, according to Bob Nightengale. This is consistent with the Dodgers wanting two SPs this deadline, so Latos doesn't mean they're done.

Teams in the mix for Hamels are reportedly: Rangers, Dodgers, Giants at the top, then Yanks, Astros, and Cubs.

This is looking like a domino effect where Price goes, then Hamels, and then probably Shields. Don't really see how the Cubs put a deal together for Price or Hamels, but if the Padres feel they just need to get something now, Shields would be a great consolation prize.
