Edwin has actually been fine this season. I actually don't get this move*, the Cubs actually could use another starter type around just in case they need one (unless you really trust clayton richard or believe in travis wood). which edwin is at this point and they won't save much $ anyway because nobody in their goddamn mind is gonna claim him.

*ok I don't know who's on the 40 atm...

They don't save any money unless someone claims him off waivers or they work out a trade in the next 10 days, neither of which seems very likely. The bottom line is they finally decided the team was just better off without him.

He's been ok this year in a very limited, low-leverage, relief role, but he literally had 2 years of being given every opportunity to be a productive starter and couldn't do it. So yes, I'd trust Richard as much as I'd trust him at this point. Plus we still have Travis Wood (and soon Wada) ahead of him on the depth chart as an emergency starter anyway and it's still possible they trade for another starter at the deadline. There was basically no way he was going to start this season in a playoff race, barring about 4 injuries. What they really needed was to not continue wasting a roster spot on a guy who only pitched once a week because he wasn't trusted in meaningful situations. Soriano is coming up, which is why they needed the roster spot, and no one else in the bullpen was as expendable.

agree with Ungoliant. i liked EJax a lot this season because when he came on, he managed to eat up innings without looking too bad. but then i remember Joe letting him pitch in a close ballgame in the 8th inning and him blowing it. better off without him.

H. Rondon
R. Soriano
J. Motte
N. Ramirez
J. Grimm
P. Strop
T. Wood
J. Russell

this is perfect. i honestly don't even want them bringing in anyone else like Pappelbon. just get us a decent starter and we are good to go.

What is the source of the pitch location charts for a specific game that get posted occasionally? Harper claiming Greinke was getting called strikes 6" off the plate, curious to see if there's any merit to that.

more likely scenario is the mets give him like a 20 year 500 million dollar contract and they are stuck with him
