Five notable criminal arrests of New York Giants

It seems every day another professional athlete lands neck deep in legal hot water. As a lifelong New York Giants fan, I have followed the off-field troubles of a number of Big Blue players through the years. Here is a list of 5 of the most notable criminal arrests of New York Giant players.
Mark Ingram, WR. 1987-1992.
Mark Ingram was a 1st round pick in the 1987 draft, and played 6 seasons as a wide receiver for the Giants. New York fans remember his key performance against the Bills in Super Bowl XXV, when he snagged 5 receptions and picked up a critical first down en route to a Giants touchdown

After a long string of counterfeiting and theft charges, Ingram was arrested in 2008 for money laundering and bank fraud. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison, but had an extra 2 years tacked on in 2009 when he jumped bail to watch his son, Mark Jr., play for Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.
Lawrence Taylor, LB. 1981-1993.
No single player in NFL history had quite the same impact on the game as L.T. As an outside linebacker for the Giants, Taylor single-handedly changed offensive formations as opponents desperately struggled to protect their quarterbacks. A 10-time Pro-Bowl selection and the 1986 MVP, Taylor led the "Big Blue Wrecking Crew" and the rest of the New York Giants to wins in Super Bowls XXI and XXV.
Lawrence Taylor battled drug and alcohol addictions throughout his career, and was arrested multiple times on drug charges and tax evasion. But he faced his biggest legal problems in 2009, when he was arrested on statutory rape charges for having sex with a 16 year old prostitute. Taylor avoided jail time, but was sentenced to six years of probation.
Plaxico Burress, WR. 2005-2009.
Burress made a name for himself with the Pittsburg Steelers before signing with the Giants in 2005. His career-defining moment came during the final minute of Super Bowl XLII, when he caught Eli Manning's pass in the endzone to propel the Giants to an upset of the undefeated New England Patriots.
In 2009, Burress was sentenced to 2 years in prison on firearms charges, after accidentally shooting himself in the foot at a Manhattan nightclub. After his release in the summer of 2011, Plaxico signed a one year deal with the New York Jets.
Dave Meggett, RB. 1989-1994.
Dave Meggett filled the role of both rusher and receiver for the Giants, but was best known for his flashy punt returns on special teams. He led the league in punt return yards his rookie season with 582, and contributed to New York's Super Bowl victory in 1991.
Meggett was no stranger to run-ins with the law, and was arrested multiple times for assault and sexual battery. In 2010, a judge sentenced him to 30 years in prison after he was found guilty of criminal sexual conduct and burglary.
Jeremiah Parker, DE. 2000.
Even astute football fans probably don't remember much of Jeremiah Parker's time with the New York Giants. He played only 4 games with them in 2000, before being released for personal problems.
Parker was charged in 2001 after an ex-girlfriend's 4 year-old son died from head trauma as the result of physical abuse. He was acquitted of aggravated manslaughter, but sentenced to 10 years in prison after the boy suffered "two months of abuse from both Parker and his mother." Parker allegedly punished the boy by locking him in a refrigerator and viciously beating him with a belt.

They have had more felons on their rolls than the Allegheny County Jail.

We got 6!!
Now you be bragging about the number of felons on your roll? I think you have more btw, maybe 26.

LOL Steelers.
Apparently it took him two years to figure out his HM didn't work, and it flustered him so much, another three months to find the lolstealers thread.

Let me explain so you can understand, big sooner. We got 6 refers to the amount of Superbowls the Steelers have and your team will never see. The Bengals have more felons on their rolls than a Jail. Understand now or do you need a private English tutor.

You got me there Big Sooner, it did take me awhile to find this thread and I am not the most computer literate, so you got me again. However, big sooner, I do possess more than a GED, so I guess the Joke's on you.

Considering two teams have 5 and another two teams have 4. That's kind of a dumb thing to say, isn't it? Especially since you don't know what team I cheer for?

Well, to be fair, even just a GED is more of an achievement than going to Oklahoma.
