RGIII is 8th in WPA/G, 3rd in EPA/P, 9th in Success Rate, Tied for 1st with Brady and CK (???) for AYPA, and, for funsies, 28th in Deep%.

He's not nearly the best QB in football, Johnson and Wilbon's assertions aside.

Way to cherry pick stats. What's his passer rating? Where is his offense ranked? Where was it ranked last year?

For the record, I never said he was the best. I don't think he is. Just said he was in the discussion and provided some sources. Paul Macquire and Dan Dierdorf were unavailable for comment. The Redskins, to this point, clearly have not overpaid based on where they are currently, his impact on the team, his impact on the fanbase and oh yeah, his upside.

Yeah, I think we're done here.

Are you the account Assani slips into when he wants to troll harder than usual?

Nope but I'm sure you're looking up his worth above replacement value as we speak.

they paid just enough to beat out the Browns offer. RG3 is worth way more than what they paid. I think they did pretty well.

agree with this though. Health concerns are why I think Luck > RG3. Going forward I have it:

1. Rodgers
2. Luck
3. RG3
4. V Miller
5. Watt
6. Brady
7. Brees
8. Calvin
9. Peyton
10. AJ Green

put Revis on there if hes fully healthy. I could be underrating JPP too. I'd have RG3 at #1 if health were not being taken into consideration.

RG3 could always sacrifice some speed for size in the coming years. He seems pretty motivated to do what it takes to succeed, and if shanny thinks he needs another 20 pounds, I'm sure he'd do it. He also has one of the best arms in the NFL, which is a perfectly valuable asset discounting his ability to run.

That seems like a terrible idea.

Then I don't really understand what the big deal is. Having a higher peak is worth more than longevity. All that matters in rings. And if he continues to get hurt so much that it shows the running QB thing is completely non-viable, then he can transition to a more pocket passer. He wont be as good, but he'll still be average to above average.

You're assuming the guy can't learn to just be a little smarter when taking off. Both big hits that have injured him this year could have been avoided with better decision making.

If RGIII loses his speed, those bad 3rd down passing numbers Assani quoted in the Era thread start to bleed into other Downs more heavily.

He gets easier throwing lanes because of his ability to run. Take that away and he'll probably struggle a good deal more.

He has learned a ton(or at least Shanny has learned a ton). Early in the year he was getting killed on designed QB runs/options, and he even got lit up on a play where he pitched the ball and then went out for a pass. He was always fighting for the extra yard early in the year, but now he goes out of bounds/slides quite often.

His two injuries:

Tied 7-7 in the 3rd quarter against ATL, the Skins had a 3rd and goal from the ATL 3 yard line.

Trailing by 8 late in the 4th quarter, the Skins had a 2nd and 19 from their own 27 and needed a big play to avoid a 3rd and long.

As a Redskins fan, I'm fine with him taking injury risks in high leverage situations like these. His speed/running ability is what has the potential to set him apart from guys like Peyton/Brady who can only beat you with their arms, and he should be using it in these types of situations.

RG3 practiced at full speed today and it is looking like he'll be the starter against the Eagles.

In order to get Donovan McNabb the Redskins traded the draft picks that later became Nate Allen and Luke Stocker. This enabled them to trade Jason Campbell for the draft pick that later became Kurt Cousins. Later on they traded McNabb for the draft pick that became Alfred Morris.

Probably time to retire this thread. Redskins already the best team in the division. And RG3's best weapon is 40-year old Santana Moss.

we could at least pause it, no need to bump the steelers thread down the page. I'm sure we'll see this thread again but no point this week
