Yeah don't think I'm gonna watch that either but I doubt Fiji's gonna trouble Aus to much. Probably be another whitewash.

That idiot who gave the penalty on the 5th tackle with 20 sec left should hang his head. The guy rushing in almost pulled off a huge play but Johnson was all class there.

Yeah, criminal from England not closing that out. The penalty on the 5th and the rushing on Johnson... trying to lose it. Oh well. I've spent all day bashing their terrible sporting skill itt. Not about to stop now.

Goddamn looking forward to tomorrow... f*ck.. i should go to the gabba to watch them finish it .

Agree. He looks so good... but at the end of the day he's not really converting. Average of 35 in 11 test innings. It's ok. But you want your openers averaging much closer to 50...
What openers average 50?

Amazing how bad England seem to play in the opening test of every single away test series. Batting has been woeful as a unit for some time now, isn't it something like 15 test innings (or around that) that we last made over 400 in an innings... LOL

Nup - he's been in good form throughout this whole season so far and given Tremlett's 3/69 in the 2nd innings which guarantees him a game in the next test match, plenty more runs on the offering for Warner.

less than 500 to get now

last time we played there we did that for just 1 wicket

That spider cam view of that bouncer is awesome. Should run it at full speed

I haven't checked this morning, but I'm sure you could still get $17+ on England. ;-)

They should get that spider cam right behind the keeper's head occasionally just to give viewers a perspective on how fast Test cricketers like Johnson really are bowling.

When I was about 19 I remember standing next to a net at Lord's when Gus Fraser was bowling and thought that was lightning fast. But in professional terms he was only medium-fast, god knows what it must be like to have faced the likes of Shoaib Akhtar and Brett Lee when they were cracking it down 15mph faster.

Obviously watching this more in hope of seeing an hour or two of decent cricket than expectation of a heroic and successful rearguard.

With Prior struggling, and questions over Root, I think Cook and Bell have probably have to bat about 120 of the 160 remaining overs for us to even have a chance, so even if we didn't lose any more today I still wouldn't be getting my hopes up. However I fully expect to wake up tomorrow to news of either a heavy defeat, or at least Broad or Swann being at the crease

Changes for Perth test will be for England: Root to opener, Carberry out and good old Bairstow back in at 6 - not that Bairstow is being picked for his batting form just for the good feel in that he was part of their winning sides in England.

No way does Root open. Carberry looked rock solid in the first innings

Not that it's funny to see anyone hurt, nor do I have anything against Harris, but I would have laughed at his stupidity if he'd bust his shoulder and missed the rest of the series trying to save a run when we still need another 470-odd

In my last season of playing I played against Mitchell Starc playing his first. He was sharp. Didn't face him thankfully. Did bowl him out though (completely unveiled brag)

haha, if you want completely unveiled bowling brags, I got future Test double-ton maker Rob Key out when we were both aged 16. I was decent enough to actually open the bowling in club cricket by then, and he was clearly good enough to open the batting.

He did have about 70 or 80 runs to his name, but hey, I'm still happy about it.

My brother once opened with Joe Root when Root was like 13. I don't know the details other than that. My brother is 33 or so now.

Just seeing that upper cut to third man by Bell made me wonder, what happens if they don't get the spider cam out of the way in time and the ball hits it?

Good question, no idea. 5 runs maybe like what they used to do with the helmet.

I know there's a long way to go but Cook's looking slow but pretty good and we all know what Bell can do. We need a wicket.
