It's been said here before but these aren't close to the best players or teams in the US. Some of the kids may be some of the best America has to offer, but for this age range there are travel leagues and competitions that are a way higher level of competition than the LLWS.
There was a tournament in New York two weeks ago that featured the best 12u kids. Numerous pitchers throwing 80+ with one kid hitting 84. There is a video on mlb.com of one of the kids hitting a ball about 350 feet.
To give you an idea, our team was a lower end 12 majors travel team. That means we are one of the top 6 teams in our state and about top 30 in the region. We beat one of the teams that finished top 4 at Ripken WS 14-2 and didn't throw any of our good pitchers.
