This isn't that uncommon.

But did Collison go 7-0 in his first 7 starts, while his best 2 teammates didn't play for 4-5 of the games?

"What I see from Jeremy and what I hear in his interviews is he appreciates everything. He pursues his dream. His attitude is so peaceful, but there is strength to him. It is not a violent strength like fire or something aggressive. It is like the ocean, very peaceful, very quiet when you look at it. But you can never underestimate the power that is in there." -Yao Ming

I actually really like this quote for some reason.

I definitely read an article about Lin where he speculates that he was underrated by many people because he's not good 1 on 1 or 2 on 2, and that's a lot of what they do in pre-draft workouts, etc.

I also read something about a coach saying he wasn't great in practice. Well, if half of the practice is 1 on 1 or 2 on 2 drills, that would make a lot of sense.

It would certainly be weird (and unlikely) if he were just flat-out bad in practice no matter what they were running, and great in the games.
Random thing I recall reading: Amare was asked about Lin a couple games ago, and he said he liked what he saw of him playing GSW, but when they got him off waivers, didn't see much from him during NYK practice.

ESPN did a break down of win percentages of the past 7 teams vs the win % of the next 12 teams.

too lazy to look up but I think this is what they were.

Prev 7 were in the .350ish range
Next 12 are in the .530ish range

Gonna be tested soon.

Well, can't be too critical. Lin was doing 7 am basketball workouts with the assistant coach.

Looks like it's gonna pay off.

I don't think it would be sooo unreasonable to think Jeremy Lin becomes Darren Collison. But that's a HUGE step up from what he used to be, which is waiver wire fodder.

Right. Picking up below average but non-liability starter for nothing is a HUGE win.

Especially when that guy is almost a lock to be top 5 in jersey/merch sales for the next couple years unless his game COMPLETELY falls apart.

Collison numbers are interesting, mostly because I didn't realize he was that good in that many games.

Problem is they aren't very predictive of anything aside from the idea that Lin's future is completely unpredictable. Which everyone should be agreeing with anyway.

I think he will end up being a good player but who knows (and there is a pretty big scope when it comes to good). The only thing I'm reasonably confident about is that he will be to some degree an NBA player.
