Isn't Lin the first full-blooded-American-born player in the NBA? I can't think of another one.

Also:

Those posts were a couple inches of pain.

I believe this is correct. He is the greatest Asian-American in history.

I am, but I'm not trippin' because I don't see how he would have ever gotten consistent starter's minutes, short of some type of massive injury. Would I rather have him on the roster than Charles Jenkins? Of course, but that's water under the bridge.

The thing I'm curious about, is that Lin was supposedly Lacob's guy (friend of the family, etc) and Lacob had to be talked into letting him go in order to go after DeAndre Jordan. I'm wondering who was primarily responsible for letting him go, and how life for that person is within the organization right now.

I certainly hope Lin can sustain a good chunk of this success, and I think his gross numbers will benefit from playing under D'Antoni. If he develops a consistent shot, look out.

When Steph went down, would Lin have seen minutes? I assume he would have?

Especially considering it was almost 100% the Clippers were gonna match for Deandre!

the Asian part of the story is pretty big. Bunch of posts on the first page with signs of him being Asian, how Asians can't drive, etc.

Probably 50% Asian, 25% NY, 25% being cut by other teams
LIN Quote

more like 70% NYC, 29% asian, 1% for being a vagabond. had he slept in a bed, or ny was his first team, it wouldnt matter. it also helps that people go to knicks games.

Jenkins got 8 starts...eyeballing, it looks like he averaged about 12 minutes/game. If you just stick Lin in his place, he wouldn't have gotten the same amount of run simply because he would be deferring to Ellis, IMO.

In fact, if you stick Lin in Jenkins' place, they probably start Ellis at the point and start Klay Thompson alongside him. Maybe Mark Jackson's wasis, I dunno.

Anthony Morrow dropped 62 in his first two starts ever (9 more than Lin) with his own pretty crazy story (undrafted out of college, nba summer league single game points record) and i'm still pretty sure no one knows it even happened

the feat itself is not much of the story, it's way more of the other stuff (race, location, etc.)

at the time people talked about morrow a lot, it just died fast, as it will with Lin when he stops playing like this

i will defer to you here i guess (aren't you a euro tho?) as I don't follow much media coverage but just searching in the archives for "anthony morrow" here brings back like 15 posts in the NBA season thread from the first couple days when it went down compared to Lin's own 500 or so post thread we're posting in now

when morrow first debuted , the news barely made it out ESPN, barreas story, not even close in the coverage , even when azabuke came out the D league and dropped like 20 something followed by 30 something in his first starts , no one batted an eye. To say its not racial at all, is being naive and illogical.

2 games is significantly behind 5 games. i dont think the streaks are comparable probability-wise.

are you really comparing the warriors to the knicks? the knicks as the worst team in basketball get more press than the warriors as a playoff team

Except people were already going ape**** about it after 2 games with Lin - the 2/6 game thread already has a Lin reference in the title.

Even if Lin keeps playing like this, it will start to get taken for granted. Even 20 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds and a gutsy win were barely enough to keep the Linsanity fuel up.

In a week, barring another 40 point explosion (or extending winning streak to 8) or something, Lin will recede from mainstream media and just become part of the regular sports center broadcasts, less important than Blake Griffin and LBJ's highlight reels.

lol no

if he averages 20/8/4 the rest of the season from here on out, he will be HUGE

a simple test is this . the word "linsanity" was coined 7 days ago, type that on google news and you will see 48 pages of news on that word, hundreds of articles. if he was white , it would be half that , if he was black it would be fifth of that . its just how the world works here.

I didn't mean to say it was even comparable, but considering it was a black guy playing in Golden State, yeah it got some hype (in the basketball world ofc)
