I guess that is one thing that needs to be clarified. But I don't see how someone can't go from offside to onside as long as they engage the play after the ball has been played beyond them, or after they got level with a defender. Otherwise, how would someone go back to onside?
That's the problem with the new rules. I think we should go backwards with the rule and your either offside or not. Whether your inactive or not.

For instance the goal that west brom scored at the weekend looked okay to me but the one that Ronaldo scored wasn't.

The difference was that the baggies striker was offside then was onside when he scored the goal. Ronaldo was offside...remained offside for the whole build up to the goal and was still offside (as he never went behind the defenders) when Ozil passed the ball. Both where goals but surely Ronnies goal should be classed as offside?

Didn't see the game, was Barton reverting to type? I wonder if he'll ever "calm down" tbh

He only came on when the game was already decided, made 2 bad challenges late on Eastmond/Fabregas. No other impact on the game.

No, game was dross but our goals were good. We rested a lot of players tonight. The game changed when Noble and Obinna came on.

No text, the wife is glad I am out so she can get some peace and quiet.

On that note, was the tickets that high last night because wolves refused to lower the price?

Was that confirmed or not?

I want:

UTD v ARS
BIRMINGHAM v VILLA

IPSWICH v WIGAN
W HAM v WEST BROM

Or work out so that the bold are the semis that'd be best imo

He can be offside if he is in any way interfering or involved with the play. I don't think the rule is that hard to understand but it should still be clarified as in real time it can be hard to judge.. If he is even blocking the keepers line of sight he is offside fwiw. The rule is that way so direct free kicks into the top corner etc aren't called for offside because someone was an inch off in the box. If someone is breaking ahead of the defense for example, is offside, and the ball is played outwide to an onside player then he is offside since he has gained an advantage and affected the play.

Haven't seen this incident yet tho. Apparantly it was controversial because of a block not an offside decision according to reports I am reading.

Just watched it again for the first time since the game. Not sure if the defender would have gotten to Theo since he zooma zoom zoom's, but Bendtner definitely got in the way. Don't know what should have been caused, but a foul on Bendtner wouldn't surprise me. AFAIK checking isn't allowed in soccer.

On last night's game - this was won and lost with half an hour to go. Pulis, stood there in a track suit and baseball cap like a bad Sunday league manager, subbed off Jones, Pennant and Tuncay. West Ham brought on Noble and Obinna. Until this point, we had barely had a shot on target.

Pulis must have been confused by Noble - he came on, passed the ball, beat players and lit the game up, and Parker came alive alongside him. In Tony's world, a midfielder's role is to whack a few people and take a long throw-in.

Conratulations Mr Pulis - you had a foot in the last eight until you took off the three people you had in the team that can actually play football. I wanted to laugh in your face when, having time wasted for large sections of the game, one of your players threw the ball at Julien Faubert for not taking a free-kick instantly. Watching you berate the referee for not being awarded a free kick every time one of your players hit the deck, particularly after Webb bottled a clear sending off and penalty decision with around ten minutes to go, was a sight to behold - obviously you can ignore all the shirt-pulling, pushing and other snide **** that you get away with on a weekly basis. **** off back to the Britannia Stadium, hopefully you will catch pneumonia from the wind that whips through that festering **** hole of a ground.
