grrr what happened on the 4th goal?

So sick.

Feel bad for Siena. Somehow they were the better team for almost the entire second half.

Great scenes though. Mourinho going nuts was hilarious.

Samuel of all people had put himself between the Siena defenders and some nice passing from I think Pandev, Sneijder and/or Milito led to him getting the ball onside clear on goal just inside the penalty area. He then finished nicely with a simple shot to the far corner and the place went nuts.

Yeah Siena LB kept him on and was about a yard or so behind the other backs.

yeah live it looked offside but replay showed exactly that.

BTW interesting post on Italian tactics. I didn't know about Coverciano but it makes sense that it would be the sort of thing that could lead to a lot of development in tactics. From Inverting the Pyramid it seems like the sort of thing that happened in Hungary before the war.

I miss that more than anything now that he's gone from Chelsea. The hilarious quotes and interviews, war of words with other managers, and hilarious antics on the touchline.

Does anyone really think Milan are even close to a challenger? Juve seem better to me, with neither close to Inter. Stranger things have happened, but I think this isn't much of a race at all. I'm curious what others think.
Both teams just have some holes that Inter doesn't but for Juventus with a much strengthened squad to perform worse this year than the previous is a disaster.

I think at the moment not just Milan but quite a few teams actually are playing much better and could go past if Juventus don't find something that works very soon.

Tonight would be a good start, though for any kind of hope to see Inter seriously challenged a Milan victory is better.

Personally I'm hoping to see some Del Piero from the start tonight.
He should have reached fitness by now and the Juve midfield without any width whatsoever leaves the team starving for something other than stationary target men up front. The "Del Piero zone" is very much needed once again!
The fullbacks of course has been very aggressive going forward but more than creating anything from that, it's more commonly resulted in holes behind (no Pato tonight really helps in that regard) rarely covered cause the team has so little sustained possession that it's counter attack after another for the opponents, and way way too much running around trying to make up lost ground for Juventus.

Teams like Inter and Chelsea have done quite well with midfields primarily consisting of central midfielders (and fullbacks providing width) so you'd think it should be possible for Juventus too. And yes I do think the Juve central midfielders are around that level. The difference I'm starting more and more to think is what's up front and how poorly the Juventus strikers complement their midfield compared to for an example what the forwards do at Chelsea and Inter. It also helps explain how both those teams this season are seen holding on to the ball a whole lot more. It's probably very needed for this kind of thing to work, but another thing Juve aren't doing at all.

BUT about tonight's game.... Milan still without Pato I can't really see change what worked so well last week so it's very much up to Ferrara. He hasn't really played defensive at any point this season but I do think the team is better equipped to do so than Genoa's abysmal try last week. Apart from Diego there is not that much pace up front though, so it might not even be worth going for something like that.
If it's one of Ferrara's usual unbalanced lineups it's hard to see anything other than just a wide open game with many chances for both teams. It could easily become a battle of individuals so to speak.

Special thing to look forward to could some ill tempered midfield battles. Especially if both Poulsen and Gattuso, who have quite a history, starts.

Also, Real Madrid against Mallorca about to start.

Of any top 4 teams in the major leagues at the moment, Mallorca for some reason, could easily be the team I know the least about. I know practically nothing.

Either people are late arriving or they just arent bothering cause of the weather. Bernabeau half empty

Guess its the latter

Great play and great finish from Higuain who can do no wrong at the moment.

Goal was great

vdV injured makes me
01-10-2010 , 02:25 PM
Hopefully not serious. Been playing so well and to have one more very good passer in there to go with Alonso has really made them click I think.
01-10-2010 , 02:27 PM
It looked like it is serious
