Stupid time management in college football could have its own thread, it's a new variation every single week. The 2 minute drills are even worse because CFB makes them 'easier' by stopping the clock on a first down. We had:

- Les Miles lets half of his remaining time runoff before a TO.

- Auburn refuses to try a pass play of more than ten yards when they are behind vs Alabama.

- U Ohio in Mac championship game manages 2 plays in the last 1:00.

But we haven't hit rock bottom yet, not until a verteran national-title winning coach Mac Brown and a senior Heisman candidate McCoy move the ball to Nebraka's 30, down by 2. With 1:00 and a to remaining, they do their best to run out the clock and lose their title shot.

Wouldn't want to use your time and TO to shorten a 46 yd FG or anything. I mean if it misses, its the kicker's fault.

I just wish McCoy would admit he was looking at the play clock that read :15 seconds.

Clearly he thought there was :15 seconds left, when he snapped the ball with only 7-8 seconds.


Situations like this are what this thread was made for....McCoy is essentially a coach. (5th yr senior, Heisman candidate, NFL prospect, etc, etc, etc)

Gaiz, none of your are experts ergo you can't judge what experts do. Les Miles had his reasons for his clock management at the end of that game.

Bump for calling your 3rd TO with 0:14 left in a tie game after getting into FG range.

They also managed it poorly at the end of the 1st half, not calling TOs to get another possession, although that worked out for them as GB got the automatic first down penalty with 4 sec left and couldn't take advantage.

Calling a play with more than a 0% chance of Favre throwing across his body delayed over the middle is epic fail when you are already in FG range.

55 yard FG = already in fg range.

They had two timeouts and a minute to go and showed zero sense of urgency, getting only three plays off, two of which were runs, so they pretty much were playing for a 50 yard field goal, which is lol bad. Couple that with the fact they got a 12 man in the huddle penalty to push them even further back, and I'm going to lol at Chilly.

I know kickers have been terrible this year but it is so frustrating how people consider 48 yarders chip shots and 55 yarders in FG range.
