My prediction: Brazil won't qualify, people will hang CBS president, nothing will change, Germany will ship it again to tie with Brazil 5-5.

Cliffs: Crimean clubs are playing in Russian competitions. After a complaint by Ukraine, UEFA has decided not to recognize any games played by the clubs in RFS organised events.

Since non of the clubs are in any danger of qualifying for European competition I wonder if this sanction actually has any teeth. Is there any precedent on whether UEFA would rachet up pressure? Or are they likely to just ignore the problem until it goes away?

In a leaked audio recording several executives in Russian football seemed to think this could actually lead to losing the WC and bans from European competition. They decided to punt and ask the Kremlin what they should do (because the FA is independent ldo)*). The only thing I'm sure of in this, Putin isn't backing down.

*cynically I don't really believe any FA is truly independent of the government and FIFA rules on this are only meant to protect corrupt FAs, in 3rd world countries, who support Sepp Blatter...

Both USA and Belgium have lots of potential to improve for the next world cup and Russia if they have home advantage could also be big. Germany likely to crush everyone again though.
