Beer tastes great because things like hops have a slightly euphoric side effect and other means of making beer can bring about pleasing sensations like refreshing acidity, esters, and even savoriness. These things also exist in spirits, but differently. So, again, stop while you are well behind (I can go into greater detail as to sugar contents and the receptors of them all, but no one wants to read that).

I’ve spent thousands of dollars going after certifications in these areas and will spend thousands of dollars in the future continuing on. This is an area in which I’m extremely well-versed.

Yeah, from everything I've read in KDawg's pösts, don't argue with him about this stuff. Even if you were right you'd still lose, just because he knows way more about alcoholic beverages than anyone of us (probably all of us combined. Maybe not if we include cashy, as he's working in the culinary arts, but I hear he's extremely busy these days.)

Meh, I'm not gonna argue it. It's just that I know ~no one who drinks stuff like Jägermeister or vodka for the taste. Some whiskey lovers, but it's mostly to get pissed.

I don't know of many people that drink that gawd awful ****e known as Jagermeister past the age of 22. When I worked retail, I pretty much looked down upon anyone who bought a bottle of it for anything other than irony.

I'd challenge you to try a real good Scotch, Cognac, or Armagnac (add a little bit of water to open it up) and then say any of them don't taste really good. They wouldn't fetch the prices they do if it was just for effect.

You cant make sweeping statements about alchoholic beverages using Jagermeister as any kind of benchmark.

Uh, I know. And beverages that have more of it are generally harder to drink than ones with less in it. Which leads me to believe that ethanol itself tastes terribly.

Ethanol does not posses any actual “taste”. Taste and flavor in alcoholic beverages comes from the actual raw materials just as they would if they weren’t fermented/distilled/brewed

Dude I never said that all alcoholic drinks taste terribly. I basically just said: ethanol tastes awful, thus drinks with 40% ethanol will generally taste awful, but at least vodka doesn't try to add much other flavour which only makes it worse.
