CDL earnestly believes Duke started crushing the one-and-done market in ~2014 because Coach K did the Olympics in 2008.

These guys - Okafor, Giles, Bagley, whoever - they're turning down $100k cash so they can play at Duke because they saw Coach K at the Olympics on TV

The reason these schools are basketball powers is because they have larger fanbases with deeper pockets.

Kansas, Kentucky, Arizona. The reason these schools keep getting top recruits could be because theyre traditional basketball powers and that lures kids or it could be they have more resources ans deeper pockets to keep winning at the ugly game of basletball recruiting.

When a normal person sees a sentence like "Everyone does this" they think "Yes, this is very wide spread and common" and obviously understand that "everyone" is hyperbole. A normal person doesn't think "I don't think EVERY SINGLE PLAYER does this! No one is able to prove that I'm wrong!"

Duke is crushing the dirtiest game in college sports(basketball recruiting) year in and year out but doing it as the only clean program whose recruits are the only top 5 star ones not getting paid?

Bagley literally just had a final 3 of Zona, USC, and Duke. Two of those schools were already implicated as schools whose recruits were getting paid by shoe companies, but a guy chose Duke over those schools because his draft stock would soar under Duke when guys from UNLV, Washington, and LSU have all been drafted #1 overall recently?

I mean isnt it obvious at this point that anyone recruiting these OADs can only be cpnsistently competitive with $?

Would be a fun psychology experiment to see how much less logical people are when discussing their "own" team versus a random team. Pretty hilarious how a Duke grad can do so many mental gymnastics to try to convince himself Duke is innocent when the actual facts show duke getting high-level recruits the year that a proven cheater joined the staff... derp derp coach K olympic coach tho!

This is so true. A couple weeks ago I went back over 10 years on the ESPN top 150 football and basketball recruits for each year and yeah the football lists are pretty funny to look back on it. There are NFL first rounders who weren't on the list for their respective class. There were no NBA lottery picks that weren't. Also way more guys on the football list than basketball list that did absolutely nothing after high school.

Of course it doesn't happen at every program with every player. It's not that hard to spot when there are shenanigans. Take Auburn for example. Auburn recruited well under Cliff Ellis and Bruce Pearl. Auburn went on probation for violations that occurred during Ellis's tenure, and soon will be on probation for violations that occurred under Pearl's tenure.

The two coaches in between Ellis and Pearl -- Jeff Lebo and Tony Barbee -- mostly ran clean programs. Both coaches recruited very poorly and the teams they put on the floor were absolutely terrible.

The operative question is whether there is a consistently clean, highly successful program, and the answer to that question is hell no.

nah. i'm not saying UNC is pure. i'm saying "academicgate"/negative coaching tactics towards UNC b/c of "academicgate" over the last 5+ yrs maybe shielded UNC from this mess/wave. we'll see. i feel more comfortable w/ re: to this fbi thing than your average dookie/wolfpecker tho.

Really hope Duke plays recruits. My son's principles son is supposedly going to commit to him. She has checked out completely, going to get her masters in some sports management non-sense so she can manage him. She stopped caring about her school 2 years ago and he is just a senior now. Makes 6 figures and is more focused on NBA then her job. What is sad she could have raised her hand when a school closed and instead she pulled seniority.

keep in mind that pj hairston has been investigated by the NCAA (and cleared) and that the NCAA has been hovering over UNC athletics for the past 7 years waiting with bated breath to act on any misstep and lower the boom.

which recent recruits (i guess we're talking about the past 4-8 yrs) would you list as possible trouble recruits for UNC in regard to the fbi sting.

lol. i'm doing the exact opposite of Iraqi PR man. i'm saying sure UNC isn't pure. but we're talking about a limited, recent time period where the NCAA was literally giving UNC athletics a weekly colonoscopy.

You are basing this all on the NCAA being capable of finding anything. Who is to say the NCAA themselves isn't in on all of this. I mean seriously do we all think they are that incompetent or is it more likely that their own pockets are being greased to not do anything about it. They can't all be that stupid to miss something this big for this long.

If the super elite programs go down, it will be solely attributable to the FBI investigation.
