it's true we have a lot of solid players, but sadly in our national team quality very rarely comes out, not to mention trainers come and go and there doesn't seem to be a perfect match yet ... but i'm rooting come on belgium ONE TIME

and you forgot Dembélé

I'd like Belgiums chances if they weren't grouped with Germany and Hiddink's Turkey :-/

It's sad because you've got a few very talented players, it will probably be a decent side come 2014 though.

the fact that the asian cup, african cup and north america cup???? Have 16 teams is a reason that the euro cup can easily hold 24 imo.....

Guadolope ffs....

Not only is that line up not that strong but who's on the bench? a couple of injuries and well be calling players up from the championship on mass.
I think we'll get to Euro 2012 with the same faces as always minus Ferdinand and Heskey but once the thirty year olds hang up their boots well really struggle to qualify for WC 2014.
I only hope Capello starts experimenting with new formations because 4-4-2 is beginning to look increasingly obsolete and Euro 2012 might be our best chance of winning anything for years to come.

ajw, while he probably won't break through for euro 2012, I would imagine that wilshire would provide something in teh CM that england was lacking since he'd be the main focus. There's no way that baines is the longterm LB and I'm surprised that Adam Johnson isn't in that line up as well.

There will also be guys who will emerge in time as well. If smalling gets a good look at United and secures his CB spot, he could very well be the long term replacement for Rio at CB and Ashley Cole should still be playing for WC 2014

Since pots for qualifying are based on past performance, it can take a cycle or two for a team further down the ladder to qualify. Belgium have been horrible in their last couple campaigns, so now they are stuck with a tough group. Even if they don't qualify for 2012, if they do well they can jump into a higher pot to increase their chances of a better draw for 2014.

ah, gotcha. as of right now, I don't think that england is in too dire of a position for brazil in 2014...yet. It all depends on how guys come along as 3 1/2 years is a long time and people emerge. But at the same time, the younger guys that they can call on won't really get them that far either. good enough to qualify, but probably not much more

so now you are back to talking about winning titles?
i thought that our team put you in your place with the 4-1 dashing not even 3 weeks ago...
face the truth and stop being so unrealistic: england is no championship-material, it wasnt for the last 40 years and it wont be for the next 40 years.
you should pray NOT to make the euro-finals so that we dont get a chance to do that to you again imo...
