That Pepperdine squad must've been hell to play. Houston beat them @ Pepperdine 93-92.

It would have been really impossible to **** up this 30 for 30 based upon the type of man Jimmy V was. Even knowing the type of person he was and the charity he founded, (disclosure: it is one of the very few I give to) this doc brought me to all three things he suggests one do to have a full day.

30 for 30: Benji just aired on ESPN here in London. Literally just finished and this is top of all latest posts!

Great episode, every single one I've seen has been amazing. Is there anywhere to get all of them in one place? Maybe ESPN has a pay service?

Anybody know....

Edit: found 2 seasons on amazon..

Also lol at that guy on the last play in the 2nd Virginia game who got the rebound, had a clear look from 6 feet and air balled it by about 3 feet.

At the end of their NCAA tournament game, did anyone notice that Sampson made the one handed basket off of the teammate flying out of bounds? That clock couldn't have been at zeroes for more than a second.

It's become a cliche, but you really couldn't write this script.

Andre Turner got a bad rap in that, he was awesome. Good trivia question: Ewing's Georgetown team went to the finals 3 of his 4 years. Who is the only team to knock them out before the finals?

Obv, I already answered it, but I loved that Memphis State team with Turner and Keith Lee (best fro in the game), and Baskerville Holmes (one of the GOAT names). I was a kid, but yeah confirmed old now.

Survive and Advance was great. The reunion scenes definitely made me think of groups that I had been a part of and the things we accomplished. And how things look different with time.

It also gave me hope, both as a sports fan and otherwise. I mean, THAT happened, so isn't it possible your own team goes on a miracle run this month?

Another thing that was so incredible was the way they had to go through literally some of the best players of all time, and they did it. These guys can go to their graves saying they got one over on Michael Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon, Clyde Drexler...all NBA champions and Hall of Famers, but they wanted something in 1983 and didn't get it.

I think Netflix has a number of them but probably not all of them.

Wow. That was incredible. I don't think I had a dry eye the whole time while watching the show. What an amazing run they went on. Some of the most incredible comebacks ever. So cool to see the players back and talking. Jimmy V. coulda been a comedian! What an inspiring, wonderful man.

I still keep going back to the line at the beginning.

I haven't watched the Survive and Advance yet but if I recall they didn't have the double bonus back then for 10+ fouls in a half. It was just one and one no matter how many fouls a team had which meant fouling was a lot better for trailing teams and it was a lot more important to get the ball into the hands of someone who was 80%+ from the line.

I'm pretty sure you're right about the double bonus rule. They made it sound like Jimmy V was the first coach to employ that strategy though...is that actually true or did I misunderstand some of the commentary about it?

finally got to see the doc, it was a great story. the run they went on, and not just who they beat, but how they did it, was amazing.

No doubt David Robinson wishes he could say the same.

This is my oldest basketball memory, I would have been nine at the time. Still remember it like it just happened, total mayhem. Fantastic job on the doc, I certainly didn't know or understand the improbable odds they faced just to get to the final, and didn't until now for that matter.

Isn't it strange? I'm the same age as you and I can vividly remember the Wolfpack players sitting on top of the rim and standing on the rim holding up the Pack Attack and Pack Power signs. I can't remember anything much about my life as a 9 year old, but I can tell you about all of the Wolfpack signs I drew and hung on the living room walls and waiting for my dad to get home to tell him all about the game. It speaks to the magnitude of the upset, when a kid with no affiliation to the team can get that excited and still hold on to the memories.

I was 7, and I vividly remember being at my aunts house, her asking who I thought would win, and me guaranteeing a Houston win. Not sure if my "memories" of the game itself are just from seeing highlights so many times over years or from actually watching game.

Dupree is mentioned in there. However, I think Obea Moore from that thread would have been a much more interesting story.
I wish they'd do a 30/30 on Obea. They won't tho because it would be so mean to the guy. I mean at least guys like Dupree, Marinovich, sniffed a little bit of success and weren't complete failures after high school.
