Must be the chance of a harsh punishment being handed out by the Premier League. My guess is they get found guilty and receive said harsh punishment which pleases lots of people, but then they appeal and that process takes over a year. Although still guilty the punishment is reduced a lot on appeal.

Initially I lol'd at this. However I read the refs statement and he did this multiple times already. It was kind a tradition.

The players asked him before the game to do the same routine for the winners after the game.

The red cards were unfortunate. The Dutch FA just suspended him cause obviously it looks horrendous.

Maybe Ambush can confirm or deny this, but it at least makes sense. I was thinking like wtf was he thinking there, but after reading this it made more sense.

Just read the sweep thing.

If you have two teams each, "seed" them 1-24 based on win equity and pair up

1-13
2-14
3-15

Thru to 12-24
2-18
3-19

Etc....

And make the payouts something like

4x winner
2xR/UP
4x worst overall team (Pts, GD, GF)
2x worst one off defeat (frequently tied to overall worst team but not always)

Splits the money evenly between good and shite and makes sure you have a fairly pointy team at each end
