We have taken a different approach the last 2 years. There is a plan. Will it work out? We'll see. But there is no David Luiz, Petr Cech etc which is a relief. Seemingly there is no more patience with mediocre players and improvement in every position is priority.
Pool/City? We are not even close. But saying they didnt need to splash when they both bought a striker for 90millie is a bit of a stretch.
Making a clear destinction between Chelsea/Arse/Spurs is hard now because the latter 2 improved while there is a lot of uncertainty with the former. Think people overvalue said uncertainty and Chelsea looking like a bunch of amateurs preseason. They lost to everyone I think? But again Im not afraid that they are suddenly gonna sink without a trace, but defo can see them struggling this year on contingency of no more quality additions (which lets face it is unlikely).

I dont see it as rosey, but gotta admit this looks the best shape we've been in before a season started in a good while.
Usually it was dilly dally, we are exploring then bringing in useless people with long contracts. I was very very critical of our transfers last season as I felt we could have gotten 4th had we bought a striker in winter (which we seem to have tried). We also needed to sort out our wage structure for good. Which was a considerable task.
Otoh Spuds can pretty much say the same. Son does seem like one of the best players in the league with incredible improvement in his consistency. Kane is a different breed and now there is no drama about City. You have brought good reinforcements backing the manager's ideas.
I can see this going either way, but the stability and quality of Kane/Son provides that edge to Spuds imo.

I hope you are a prophet.
