This isn't a new thing, I've been hoping you'd go down since Joe Royle was in charge.

Honestly, I think it would be better if they were relegated. At least that might light a fire under the owners. Now they'll probably just be in the same butt-clenching relegation battle next year.

Valuable point which I'd have been happy with before the game. Feels like a big swing from halftime though.

Lowton red card seemed harsh and Digne handball was similar to the one given against us on Sunday but Barnes getting away with the elbow in the first ten minutes probably evens it out.

Can't say I'm looking forward to Sunday much but would rather be us than Leeds.

If arsenal knock it out of the park I think they can be around 3rd in terms of team strength, with the caveat being bearish on Chelsea.

Right now I think spurs squad is better and they are playing better than arsenal by a little bit. I think arsenal are clearly better than united, but in theory united have a good squad that should be as good as spurs/arsenal.
Yeah, basically agree.

Arsenal go from a near dominant team with Partey and Tierney healthy to a ~6th place team without them. That has to be addressed. They got near relegation level production from the #9 position. That has to be addressed.

Can't argue with any of that. Whomever it is deserves it I guess. MOT.

The problem for arsenal, like united, is that unless you're city or real this looks like an awful summer to need a striker.

Not sure how much he’d cost now that Everton are safe and after the season he’s had, but I’d still welcome DCL wholeheartedly at Arsenal. Him plus Jesus would be a huge step in the right direction imo.

Nice to see Everton stay up. I've seen the movie before though where a club that hasn't been in relegation trouble in a long time save themselves, think it was only a blip only for the bottom to totally fall out

I thought I hated Fat Frank, but when he said in his post match interview that this is one of the greatest nights of his footballing career I can’t help but feel happy for him and all of the Everton fans there…they were bumping.

Lampard easily one of the least hateable individuals in sport, hating Frank is a sign of some kind of spiritual cancer.

I think midfield has been a much bigger problem for both for the last ~5 years. During the good Pogba spells United have been fine, same with Arsenal and Partey. But both teams went from having 3-4 top tier dudes to 1 dude who on their day can do enough. Just not enough to consistently control games vs even midtable teams.

Arsenal definitely need at least 1 more all action type who can press, tackle and intercept as well as pass the ball forward. United probably need 2 of these guys.

While a 20 goal a season striker would be lovely, I think getting someone adequate in that spot but someone really good in the middle is way more important. As you said, we aren't getting haaland. But the old Arsenal teams used to still put up a fight or win the center of the pitch vs City when they had cesc/wilshere/nasri/rosicky or even just santi/ozil.

This argument makes no sense. So Spurs can't improve much, but simultaneously are only a little bit better than Arsenal and need to rebuild in a year?

Spurs can upgrade several positions. We're threadbare at WB for the Conte system. Sess (perennially injured) and Doherty (out for 6 months) are well suited, but Royal and Reggie are full backs and really need trading for 2 players who can actually offer output in the final third.

Then we probably need a LCB. Davies is really well suited to this position, but someone like Pau Torres is a no brainer if available. Then we need at least 1 ACM and a decent backup for Kane/RW rotation.

Crazy to think we couldn't significantly improve at least 4 1st team positions.

You're not going to get a TAA/Davies/Hakimi level guy though.
Conte has always been more of a "mold Moses or Young" type guy

Arsenal aren't getting Haaland, but Jesus is miles above what Laca offered.

It just made infinite sense to try to empty the clip on Vlahovic. Which we allegedly did so cant have too many complaints there.

While Jesus seems like an underwhelming addition, I'm struggling to come up with names.

We are going to need 2 strikers potentially so a bargain option from someone relegated could also work as a backup. I just really hope we wont decide to go with Eddie and another 5 goal/half-season striker like the last 6months.

Think Pool/City will be going at it next year again. Then the next tier looks like Arse/Spurs/Chelsea (based on the last 6months performances + leavers in the summer they will have quite the challenge ahead). I dont see how Conte will forget who to get after the Kulusevski/Bentancour transfers - also wingbacks look like players under him. Replace Sessegnon with someone decent + 1-2 additons and they are good.

I dont expect anything from United but a transition season and neither should Utd fans, but try telling them that after the years they had.

Quite like what Arteta did with us the last 2 years. That said if we fail this summer and dont develop into a strong top4 challenger I would evalute the position again. Just to be clear I dont count this year as a strong challenge more like a scuffle between Timmy/Jimmy in South Park. No more mediocrity tolerance should be the motto.

Exactly. We have struggled to break down bunkered teams this season, so it's crazy to think Eriksen wouldn't improve our team over Hojbjerg or Bentancur in these games. It's a simple upgrade that would significantly improve our output.

Same situation at WB. Traore would be an upgrade on Royal (1G, 1A), and given Jacked Aaron's contact situation it's an exchange we could make a profit on. Either way, whoever we get a RWB, I'm pretty sure we can upgrade on Royal's output.

You will probably get more output, I just expect Conte to try and coach it out of a middling player more than you signing someone already thought to be great.

Think Chelsea are quite interesting for the Summer. Obviously they could just get someone like Rice and be set at mf again, but if they try and run it back with kovacoc/kante/jorginho and maybe just try to integrate Gallagher that has the potential to be a down year imo.
