Name the best starting XI of players who have played in your lifetime (so works better if you're the same age) playing 3-4-3 under the following conditions:

1) No two players can be of the same nationality
2) No two players can have played for the same club, even if not at the same time

It's way harder than you think. I'll post mine in a bit.
I saw similar, except without the second criteria or the formation restriction. That makes it a lot trickier but I'd probably just start with Messi and work backwards from there, will be back

OK, how about Oblak - Maldini, van Dijk, Lahm - Limpar, Scholes, Zidane, Kinkladze - Messi, Drogba, Bebeto

Oblak
Lahm Campbell Koulibaly Maldini
Casemiro Keane D.Silva
Mbappe Drogba Messi

Casemiro seems like a waste of a Brazilian and Real Madrid player, but that’s about the best I could do in a few mins.

Both definitely better than mine, but I take Nesta over Maldini all day, especially in a back 3.

I "hipsterified" mine a bit with lots of Italia '90 players. Obviously I can't put anyone of the 1990 DEUTSCHLAND squad into the team, because Lahm is the literal GÖAT ÖAT Übermensch of all time. Also I couldn't put in Hagi (), because he played 36 games for Barca; the same amount of games the D10s played for them as well.

I'd love to put in Cafu, but van Basten stole his spot (AC Milan) but Roberto Carlos is not nearly as much of a waste for a Real Brazilian as Casemiro (LÖL).

I wanted to put in Platini (he was actually a good footballer before he became a professional full-time ****), but he played for St. Etienne and that spot had to go to the one and only Roger Milla. So Robert Pires got his spot, but he's most definitely the most "meh" pick of the lot.

Terry Butcher is in it because of this:

Goddamnit, I've just realized I've got Valderrama and Higuita in who are both Colombian.

I'm making a last-minute sub an put in Michel Preud'homme in goal.

Damn. I can't be bothered to find a replacement, but in the few minutes trying to do so, I came up with an even more difficult challenge.

Make a squad, all the same rules apply, but it must include Zlatan. Good luck!

(At least he's Swedish, I guess)

Players are greedy millionaires too, just like owners are greedy billionaires.
I thought it was reported most arsenal players agreed to take a 12.5% cut except... Ozil?

Spoiler:
For the record, I don't think shaming players who don't want to take a paycut is fair but it's just too good that the player on 350k/week who's been missing for years both on and off the field is one of 3 squad players turning the deal down

Impossible quiz for Germans: make a good XI out of players who have never qualified for European competition and have also never played for a club that was once managed by Peter Neururer, Friedhelm Funkel or Jörg Berger. You'd probably end up with your local Kreisliga club.

I too feel sorry that Stan Kroenke will have to save up for another couple of weeks while he waits to buy his next yacht. Jesus wept.

There are a number of legitimate concerns brought up by Ozil and it is not like he is keeping the money to himself. He claimed that the club did not present a plan to the players, how this money will be beneficial to the staff and the community. Kroenkes also asked all players to take the paycut for the whole year, which is weird as well and smells like a scam.

Think it is easy to point fingers and say look the googly-eyed-flop doesnt give money back. While I'm not saying it is the correct thing if the club plans to spend the money the right way, however there are shady things going on seemingly.

Plus I would never trust a man not willing to open up a good bottle of wine (or was it champagne) that they produce on his own daughters wedding to spend his money for the community that he saves on wages.

It looks very bad at first sight tho and I was pretty angry/disappointed too until I looked it up a bit.

Personally I'm happy to see Ozil syphon money out of Arsenal, but he's still greedy in spite of how good his PR is.

Obv a very good shout, although thinking again I might go with either Muslera to gain Atletico at the expense of Lazio/Galatasaray and Uruguay, wouldn't burn both Plop and Barca for Suarez ever so apart from maybe Godin I waste little.

Probably redo with Southall to be honest, unless you're going exactly Giggs it seems optimal

Perhaps. I am obviously biased and despise our owners.

Also, can it be counted as a hot take that I was delighted when he signed said contract with us before he unofficially retired from football? Cause I was...

It was obvious the contract would be good for a year or two and an albatross afterward.

The season is done, and the few people left who value money over public health and common sense are exhausting themselves trying to find a way to complete it. The PL should obviously have plans to finish the season, but even as recently as ~3 weeks ago every leak was absolutely insane and out of touch. They were talking about starting in mid May about a month ago!

A lot of teams will lose a lot of money because of this and the players will be next. A bunch of teams had salaries that were not sustainable during the peak times. They're obviously a problem now.

We almost certainly won't have fans in stands on 2020, if there are matches at all. For players earning over 100k a week, we're going to see real pushback soon.

Yashin (if he’s considered too old then substitute with the Binman or something)
Hansen
Godin
Maldini
Kante
Valderamma
Gascgoine
Zico
Messi
Rummenige
Ronaldo

I'm sure that somebody is going to point out that two of them have played for Inter or something, but I will not be taking any further questions at this time.

Damn, should have maybe slid Roberto Carlos in my team instead, which would also allow for van Basten GOAT.

He is one of the most charitable players in world football. He regularly pays for kids surgeries around the globe. This isn’t about him being greedy (although it is completely 100 percent the right of any player to collect their full contracted wages), but about wanting assurances that the money will go to those who might need it and not lining the pockets of Kroenke and his billionaire Wal-Mart heiress wife.

Of course it’s a juicy headline though. Wouldn’t expect most to actually read or think further than that.

It's really fascinating how insanely tricky the spot of the FA is considering all the financial and sporting stakes.

The dutchies simply cancelled the season and now the frenchies are crowning PSG champions while relegating bottom 2 and thus promoting the top 2 of ligue 2.

Maybe easier to do because PSG was of course miles ahead and Toulouse (20th) was out of the race but then you have Amiens (19th) only 4pts back and the top 5 in the ligue 2 was separated by 4 points only. And normally it's 3 going up/down

For the sake of our community experience, I really hope the FA goes the dutch way but I'm afraid the huge gap Plop has might end up playing a factor
