How difficult is it to join the band, what do you look for?

On the face of it probably easier than you think. We look for England fans with pride, passion and dedication to generating the best support in the world. If you can play it helps but we look for volume not skill.
WE LOOK FOR VOLUME NOT SKILL. they actually ADMIT THIS ON THEIR WEB PAGE

Any of you guys have the fortune of suffering with tinnitus? Jfc it's a game changer.

me old grandmum is one of those mentalists born in the 30s who thinks you ought not to complain about anything unless you are about to die, in which case you are allowed 3 seconds of moaning before getting on with it. she has tinnitus now and complains about it quite regularly. so it must be bad

band update: you can book them to play at functions and stuff. i reckon if we all chip in a tenner we can raise enough to book them for a birthday party in raqqa?

Are they going to accompany England team to WC'18 Russia? Cause then the problem might take care of itself right there.

they survived ukraine 2012 so i reckon they might make it out alive

ukranian police were like lol u daft ****s aint taking those things into the stadium, piss off. they insisted they had permits. ukranian police were like ok for that your tubas and stuff are confiscated now go away or we'll give you a right kicking

the ****ing wankers GOT THE FA INVOLVED ON THEIR BEHALF and were given their **** back and allowed to to take their instruments into the following group game. fortunately we got booted out of the tournament early, cant even remember how, think i blocked it out

click here to become apoplectic with rage

Yes only in one ear though. I should probably go to the doctor about it. It may be a physical thing and potentially fixable unlike most tinnitus as I once had that ear bleed.

Had happy clappers at St Mary's for the first two games of the season

Would still take them over the band though.

yeah, I've had it for a couple of years now. Stood next to one too many giant speakers over the years I guess. It's really slight and only becomes bothersome in either complete silence (which is rare) or when I move my jaw outwards (which I now actively avoid doing), but it's always there and I can see how it becomes depressing for some.

I'm another tinnitus sufferer, had it for a few years. Really annoying at quiet times but doesn't stop me sleeping or anything which I imagine would be a nightmare.

We are about to need to get a tinnitus containment thread if anyone else steps up and says that they have it.

Do you sleep next to a motorway?

International Break can do one. Roll on Saturday.

Ben Woodburn looked pretty useful for Wales in his 2x30mins

my immediate thought is to built a time travelling assassination robot to 'take care' of trevor francis before the events described above happen. any other suggestions?
I've been quite active against the brass band for a long time. I've tried a calm approach on their Facebook page and have even written to the FA.
The FA give them tickets to the England games, apparently.
I've been on TalkSport a few times complaining about the negative impact they have on the team.
It's been quite clear for a long time that when the band go into one of their continuous, monotonous 'tunes' they go at a slow tempo, presumably because it makes it simple for them all to play and for the bass drummer to keep up with.
They literally become a metronome for the team and they actually slip into the same tempo. I don't blame the players for it, it's a quite natural thing to do.
I don't think anyone at the FA has actually thought of looking into it and just dismiss it as a ridiculous notion, but it's quite plain to see. There's some definite science behind it.
There I go, sounding like a tin hatter!

The other thing that I've never understood it why on earth do they insist on playing Ring of Fire and the theme from The Great Escape?
The Great Escape? That happy movie in which only 3 people successfully escaped and most of those who were captured were shot.
Maybe it's some sort of metaphor for England in the past 50 years. Successful in breaking out of the qualifiers but getting murdered in the important bit.

I don't know where to start with Ring of Fire. Probably something to do with Gary Lineker soiling himself on the pitch...

....and breathe...

Back to video games. I worked for Bullfrog for 6+ years. The only other company I ever wanted to work for before I joined them was Team 17. Alien Breed and Project X were legendary games on the Amiga.

played a ton of bullfrog games, theme park/hospital, syndicate, the original populous, and the pick of the bunch: original dungeon keeper, brilliant game, one of my favs ever

from team 17, superfrog and obv various iterations of worms. never came across alien breed or project x

I'm ready to step up and organise a fight to keep the band if Pete and BAIDS go to work. Reckon I could get a few Scottish and Germans aboard.
09-05-2017 , 05:55 PM
second thoughts?
09-05-2017 , 05:56 PM
If it makes the players even worse, then none at all lol.

i did some reading on the band's main culprit (he refers to himself as 'band leader john', his twitter is @hemaLeader - tagline: Leader of the england band - and he has a very detailed wiki page which i am 99.9% certain was written by himself), the bloke got himself banned from hillsborough for 10 years for trying to lead a boardroom coup. what an absolute attention seeking arse of the highest order

When I started I caught the tail end of the Theme Park juggernaut and did a bit on the SNES version and Magic Carpet 2. Designed the levels on Syndicate Wars when Hospital was in dev. Did the early concept levels for Dungeon Keeper and then was a designer/producer on Populous 3, Dungeon Keeper 2 and Theme Park World/Sim Theme Park.

Fun times.

Edit: The AI on Theme Park was done by Demis Hassabis who went on to start DeepMind Technologies that Google ended up buying for 2 and a bit Neymars.
