FA cup needs to bump the prize money and give direct CL qualification or something, otherwise it will become the new Mickey cup

Lol at giving a Champions league spot to the winner of the FA cup.

Any club can win the fa cup i.e Wigan, Millwall got to the final in 2004; no club from outside the top division should be one match from qualifying for the champions league.

It's already a glorified worthless cup the prestige of the FA cup is the only thing carrying the trophy.

The FA cup is still a great trophy to win. They should just stop scheduling the premier league 2/3 or what ever days it is after the FA cup weekends.

In the last 20 years:-

Chelsea 6 (although, 2 when they where ****)
Arsenal 6
Man Utd 4
Plop 2

Pompy and Baids have won it.

So the 'bigger' teams tend to win it. Go back a further 5 years, Everton and Spurs won it when they where both good lol Arsenal, Man Utd and Plop won it again and prior to that was the wimbledon shock.

This ref's a joke.

Distribution of CL spots is not up to the FA anyway. UEFA controls that.

Just cushion it back to the keeper, what could go wrong

Is it?

Isn't it down to the country to decide what they do with their allocated spots. Years ago, Real Madrid didn't quality via the league format and they got the spot.

How has he done for you? I was disappointed that we didn't sign him in the summer.

Seems he's barely played (injuries/illness and AFCON). Definitely very dangerous in the air and works well with Mahrez. I'm really hopeful for him as we've got bunch of good crossers.

Watching us cross at the weekend to 5'7" Okazaki in aerial challenges against Pogba and Smalling was laughable.

The thing about FA Cup is that it's prestigious only because people call it this way due to history and all that. In theory it's the same as a Mickey Mouse cup except that people decided to label the league cup as mickey mouse.

The day people stop caring about FA cup it will be a mickey mouse cup too. You are what people make of you

Looks like thats still the same case. It's up to the FAs of each country as to who they put forward to represent the country if you will. Generally speaking it's sorted by the league positions. The only thing that has changed in recent years is that the EL and CL winners will be put in the GS regardless of where they finish or what league they are in (unless obv they go busto).

People (UNITED) decided to label it as mickey mouse because plop tried to make it out as equal to the FA cup. It's a United and Plop rivalry that caused the term.

Took on a bigger meaning after their mickey mouse treble

FA forcing United to skip the FA Cup instead of letting us play our reserves for the ****ty waste of time world club cup didn't help the prestige of things (and of course United get blamed even though the FA just wanted to suck up to FIFA to try to get the World Cup. ).

What year was it? In 1999-00 RM finished 5th in La Liga but entered 2000-01 CL as title holders.

Maybe I'm remembering it wrong, I remember there being a big thing about it at the time and then a repeat when Plop won it and Everton qualified.

And ah right fair enough. Googling skills let me down there

Wasn't it was the other way around. Club wanted to play the reserves in the FA cup and use the first team in the pointless cwc?

Makes way more sense your way. Should just abolish the cwc. Just causes fixtures pile up for the club in it.
