Besic was immense tonight. Baines, Barry, ROMELU all excellent too, and ofc Ross is always poetry in motion, can pretty much take him for granted now. Shame we let them hit us on the counter as 2-0 would have been a better reflection of the dominance and would have made us favourites to get through the tie. Still got to have City odds on at 2-1, but the dream is alive.

Barkley might be too dumb to be elite, he's got that Oxlade Chamberlain run down blind alleys thing going on. I notice the Everton fans get on his back quite a lot as well.

Fuenes Mori has always impressed the few times I've managed to see Everton this season, what do you think about him?

yeah, really impressed and constantly surprised at how well he's settled in to the pace of the league, he looks like an old pro at times and his confidence is almost puzzling. In the past month or two he's begun showing up in the opposition's box at an almost Coleman-like rate, and he never looks tired. I'd never heard of him when we bought him (which is true of a startling amount of Everton purchases), so chalk another winner down to our scouting work / rungood with transfer deals.

I was surprised Funes Mori signed for Everton, I expected him to go to a bigger club.

I'm not sure what you mean by blind alleys, he runs with the ball at pace from central positions often with few players ahead of him. He is naturally going to be swarmed by opposition. I think given his age and style of play he does remarkably well in these situations when the opposition outnumbers him and shuts him down.

He is the most exciting and talented player I have seen an Everton shirt (Not saying much I know ) though that does include Rooney who was incredible in his earlier days

Very surprised. Thought he would be terrible but he has performed well

Barkley is incredibly young in Elite football terms.

Think of players like C Ronaldo, Bale, Suarez, Alexis etc.. at his age. They were nowhere near the level they are now. Barkley looks like he has so much potential, maybe he does, maybe he doesn't but the signs are there. For his age the things he's doing are impressive.

It's what annoyed me so much about the Sterling transfer saga. The entire country suddenly forgot he was 20 years old. At 20 years old nobody is great, all the best players in the world aside from Messi were at such lower levels at age 20. Ronaldo is the best example of an incredible shift from 20 to 25 or whatever.

Even Bale, what was he then? Redknapps second choice LB?

yeah Ross has been a frustrating player for what seems like forever, but only because we all know how good he's inevitably going to be and we just wanted him to get there immediately. He was touted as the next Rooney what, 5 years ago now? Of course his decision-making has long been a problem but he's really, really improved on that this season and the players around him are also more in tune with what he's doing now. The raw talent and sheer power/belief are still off the scales, he's just so strong on the ball and has no fear whatsoever, he's now our most important player (ROMELU a very close second ofc) and he's going to be huge for England this summer.

Barkley reminds me of Yaya in some aspects of his game mainly the physical side and the ability to drive forward through midfield with the ball. Neither great defensively .

Like LO said needs to work on his decision making at times but I have no doubt it will come

did someone forget yaya's birthday cake?

I saw about 30 seconds of the game yesterday, which was when Barry slid the ball across to the far post for Lukaku to just fail to connect with, even though he was offside for about five seconds and with no excuse for it. He should be shot for that, which would prevent him scoring against us every time in the future.

Can't be bothered to post this in the Europa league thread (still too bitter), but I'm sure you'll all be glad to see that FC moneyball are hosing United fans

FC moneyball know that people from Surrey are more wealthier than people from Hampshire.

I've noticed Barkley has improved his decision making and IMO that's largely why he's gotten more scorepoints. Edit: Basically what LO said.

I never had dour Scotsman David Moyes as such a cheeky japester.

It all ended a little acrimoniously back in 2014, but former manager David Moyes said he would be open to a return to Manchester United in the future.

Speaking on the Clare Balding Show, Moyes said he "wouldn't have done anything differently" during his time at Old Trafford.
