Football Thread Secret Santa 2015

How It Works
- Regular participants in this thread are allocated a single poster each. They must send a personalised Christmas gift to this poster, to arrive before Dec 25th 2015.
- There will be a Gift Unwrapping Thread in December in which we all reveal what we received.
- The "Secret" element will be respected unless the sender wishes to reveal themselves. In other words, if you want your recipient to know who sent them their gift, feel free to tell them after they've opened it. I won't be telling anyone anything.
- The pairings will be done entirely randomly. I promise not to interfere with the initial process, despite the temptation to pair certain posters with each other for comedy value. That being said, if you want to swap recipients with someone else, I will do my best to facilitate this in private.

How to Enter
- Open to any regular or semi regular posters from this thread or last year's EPL thread.
- If you're unsure as to whether you qualify, consider the following question: "Would a regular poster itt be capable of thinking of an amusing troll gift for me based on my posting history?"
- If you want in, the first step is to PM me your name and address. If you have a more interesting life than me, and may move between cities / countries, just include the address you'd like your gift to be posted to in mid December.

Gift Rules / Guidelines
- Suggested gift value is around £20 ($30 in American money). If you want to spend more than that, go right ahead but don't expect it to be reciprocated. If you spend less than that, it had better be funny.
- Troll gifts are not only allowed, but actively encouraged. But there's also a lot to be said for just sending something the recipient would actually appreciate and enjoy!
- If you don't know much about your allocated poster, you should either research their posting history or PM someone else who might know them better. Generic gifts can work in certain spots, but they don't make great thread material. Your primary aim here is to make the recipient smile, even if it's through gritted teeth.
- If you have an especially perfect gift idea for another poster, but you weren't allocated them, feel free to PM your idea to me and I will pass it on to the relevant Santa. Likewise if you live in an obscure part of the world and are willing to help with postage / gift sourcing for local posters, just let me know and I'll put you in contact with someone who would welcome your help. Community involvement is encouraged!

Like I say, step one is for anyone who wants in to PM me their info. I will post a list of confirmed participants around Nov 20, though I haven't set a specific deadline yet. Have at it!

Hadn't checked in on wagnh for awhile but wanted to know what chelsea fans that side wanted the club to do re: tso. Looks like most want him to be allowed to continue. Learnt his father is/was very ill which might explain tso undernourishment. Also semi reliable source that regardless of upcoming results, he might be gone by the international break. Nothing worse than an international break.
Strange atmosphere on saturday - can't deny liverpool did enough to win (although a draw was probably right - still not good enough but better than another defeat) but thinking if Uncle avram was standing in the dugout crowd would've been pretty hostile. You can get sacked from villa/brom/sunderland for 3-2-6 records so tsogoat for surviving so far and completing 5 full seasons under Roman.
The problem is, as mentioned by many, no one knows why it is so bad. Hard to know what the gameplan is this season or if it's that the players can't execute or most likely the defensive players can't perform to whatever the gameplan is. Can't even see how we get 3 points at Stoke. What a collapse!

Going to predict that Klopp's 'likable' status among other fans will be gone by 2016 - he was (rightly imo) letting the 4th official know what he thought for a lot of the game.

Anyone want to share examples of past Secret Sants gifts itt? I consider myself a regular poster but don't really know the individual posters too well. I actually think that says a lot about the quality of this forum that most people aren't loltastic enough to stand out. Sure you have your joediego's and SugarNuts but overall pretty damn good. I don't know that my troll gift would be good enough and worth the hassle of sending to some exotic destination from USA#1 where a forever stamp doesn't get it done

I mean, just knowing which team they support is a good place to start. Someone in MTTC sent me a Liverpool hat and scarf in 2010, which was an awesome troll gift until I later heard he just looked through my posts and saw that I'd once lived in Liverpool...

help needed guys..completly off topic but im hoping someone knows their stuff

i have recently split with my wife, we had 4 kids... the original plan was that she has until after xmas to live in the house that we rent from my parents and then hopefully she will get housed by the council as she'll never be able to afford a 3 bed house on her own.

today she said that she was told i have a duty of care as long as we are married to provide a roof over her head.... is this true? i cant find anything online.. anyone been through similar? or does anyone know the liklehood of her getting housed in Januart

If you owned the house, your wife and kids would have a good chance of staying in it until the kids are grown. That's the situation I found myself in when I got divorced, and my ex stayed in the family home until she met someone else and chose to move to her own place. With it being a rental property I'm guessing she'll qualify for housing benefit and the landlord (your parents) will not be obliged to keep them as tenants indefinitely, so they'll likely be offered alternative housing. But IANAL and my own experience doesn't perfectly converge with yours, so a solicitor / Citizens advice is your best bet.

Whatever happens, the best advice I can offer is to keep things as friendly as possible and be as flexible as possible yourself. you don't want to piss off the mother of your children any more than you already have, believe me. glgl, feel free to PM if you think I might be able to help in any more detail.

I have been a long time reader but I'm kind lazy to post since usually when I'm on the computer I have 12 tables open so its hard to post. Yet somehow multitabling doesn't close the browser, and I wonder why I miss click(suck) so much..

Im a Aston Villa fan since -96 and I'm really unhappy about the current situation(obviously) I was pretty sure this would be the case but I was hoping for a little better start especially since I had good faith in Sherwood. Sad to see him go but I guess things must change. Would have personally given a little bit more time to him.. zero reads about the frog but im keeping an open mind, defenders tend to make better managers for some reason, with my 30seconds of thinking about managers I know.
anyone have more statistics on the matter? most successful position during playing years compared to managers? would think it might be midfield on the understanding of overall aspects of the game ?? idk..

interested to see about my number 1 hate list team Liverpool this year, klopp seems to be getting things in order, maybe someday they wont play completely annoying football anymore..

Chelsea is kind a lol this season but since I follow the media circus so little the whole team has always been kind a southamptonie in regards that I don't care that much... usually root against them but not really have passionate dislike like for liverpool..

Man utd has been utterly boring this year and they have been running so hot on shots/score ratio they cant keep it up long.

hopefully palace/leicester can keep up the good work and we shall have a interesting season regarding to places 3-6

wijnaldum cabaye mahrez payet have been surprisingly good this year

on the Villa side of things unfortunately I have little good to say we cant defend for **** and Micah as DC and (c) is 40% chance to relegation on its own. And none of the newcomers have really made an impact we suck on all aspects. The one good thing I can say is that mostly the team is pretty young and we have decent potential if they can get a season or two of regular 1st team football under their belts..


we dont create chances we dont make decent efforts on the ones that we do and once again our defending sucks. also GK is kind end of his road.

as a insurance move I have made sure Kane wont score against us today by selecting him as Captain in FPL

still well be likely to lose by at least 2 goals..

ill propably start posting a bit more since im making some larger bets on FPL this year so any insight is usefull even if it comes from pool fans

Went through about 60% of the same stuff that you did regarding relationships and so many things you described was exactly the way i felt at the time and during.
