not sure about exchange rate back then but here they started out at 80DM(£32) and got up to 100DM(£40) and only when the euro got introduced cracked that barrier

As best I can remember PS1 games were around £40-£50.

At least then we got the full game rather than the crap my kids have......buy a disc for £55 then spend anything up to a few hundred quid buying add ons. Oldest lad spent £35 per month on points for a FIFA game for quite a while. Youngest wants every download content available.

Someone should make laws against them selling games like this.

Don't get me started about Disney ****ing infinity......need ****ing infinite amounts of cash to buy millions of figures.....Bastards.

Yup, that FIFA RTWC 98 an integral part of my childhood. Had both a 'dive' button and a dangerous tackle.
05-21-2016 , 07:03 AM
Ah yes, the good old top yellow tackle

Today I will be talking like I have a pet on my nose and saying "YERNIGHTED" whilst being a ****.

Do ya mind you could run from the ref and he'd chase you until you got the yellow card. Good times

World Cup 98 was an amazing game. I'm pretty sure you could dive in the game.

On an unrelated note, just went full wanker and bought a Martial jersey which pretty much seals the deal on his transfer to PSG

Cross advertising Gabe's Euro's game (on POG)

During the tournament I will be running a game: the Euro 2016 Soccer Pool, where players will be able to test their prediction skills. You will have to try and predict the half time and full time results of all 51 matches, as well as the teams that advance through the group stages and elimination rounds.

There will be daily updates available providing the day and total running scores. We will be playing for bragging rights only. There will not be a signup fee or prizes, but feel free to organize your own side bets, subgames (POG vs SE?) and whatnot.

Who can play?
  • Anyone with valid 2+2 forum alias
  • Please do not submit multiple entries, if you own a bunch of gimmicks. One entry per person, please.
  • If you have a soccer fan in your family, I guess it is OK to allow him/her to play on one of your gimmicks. Please do not abuse this, though.

How can I play? Please do not send anything else to this e-mail address, but completed signup forms. I will likely be ignoring everything else that gets sent. Post comments or questions in this thread, please.

  • Group Winners: 1 point for every correctly placed team in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. [MAXIMUM = 6×3=18 points]
  • Round of 16: 1 point for every correct team in the Round of 16 . [MAXIMUM = 16×1=16 points]. MOD NOTE: The rules for third place are mildly complicated. Check them out in the articles 17.02 and 17.03 of the official UEFA Rules.
  • Quarterfinalists: 3 points for every correct Quarterfinalist [MAXIMUM = 8×3=24 points]
  • Semifinalists: 5 points for every correct Semifinalist [MAXIMUM = 4×5=20 points]
  • Finalists: 8 points for every correct Finalist [MAXIMUM = 2×8=16 points]
  • 10 points for correct Runner-Up
  • 15 points for the correct European Champion
For a maximum of 323 points.

NOTE: the match results for the elimination rounds (matches 37-51) will be scored independently of who the home team or visitors are. For example if you have guessed Italy-Czech Republic for game 43 and a 0-0,1-1 result, this result 0-0,1-1 will be used also if this match ends up being e.g. Sweden Spain.

I'm back from quite a lovely vacation. I bravely wore my Spurs shirt on Thursday. Got 2-3 go Spurs chants, 2-3 Euro sounding "Hey, a Spurs shirt" comments, and only one person sang "it happened again" at me. EPL fanhood is riding high here in USA#1. Here's me and my mate in front of hogwarts.

I had a c64 when I was around 10 years old, and International Soccer was one of the first games I bought (may even have come free with the computer). One time my mate and I left it on demo mode and expected his brother to believe that an actual football game was on TV, because it was so realistic. In hindsight it's easy to see why that little trick failed.

I've always enjoyed playing Goal3

it was fun when a tornado picked your player up, lightning struck or you've just saved a Brazilian "piranha" shot. Fun times.

They also had hockey, basketball and some fighting game as well. loved all of them

I bought it right after I decided to support Spurs so unfortunately it's blank at the back. I'm keen to buy another one tho. I think the AIA sponsor logo is pretty sexy. Deciding between Kane/Alli/Ericksen etc may prove difficult.
