On day Spurs bid for Berahino I have to admit I got fee wrong on what they paid for Soldado. Was told it was £13m plus £13m in add-ons 1/2

Now established for sure that fee was £20m. Still not £26m but more than I thought. Spurs will get £10m back from Villarreal inc add-ins 2/2
So to put it into context we lost less on Soldado than Utd lost on Berbatov; Arsenal lost on Arshavin; Plop on Carroll; Chelsea on Torres, City lost on Dzeko/Ade/Robinho/Santa Cruz/etc; Soton/Osvaldo.....
Berbatov is a weird inclusion on that list. I know he was a bit of a flop all told considering what we paid, but he played for us for 4 years, helped us to two titles and was top scorer once before we sold him off at age 31. Why not include RvP too then?
Anyway, I just posted that because you've quoted that 13m figure a few times.
I'll be rooting for Sheffield's joke club to get into the playoffs again. The more confidence built up amongst their fans - ideally with long stints in the automatic places - the better.
Even though last season was funny as always, there were elements missing that you usually get from a Sheffield United season. Although "scored 6 goals over 2 legs and still went out" is an amusing narrative, I thought it lacked because there was never a belief that they'd pull it off. Swindon levelling to 5-5 from 2-5 would have been better obviously. Traditional is best though IMO for Sheffield United seasons. Losing on pens in the play off finals will be funny every time - no need to tinker with a formula that works.
