It's Kevin Campbell I think.

Pretty sure I've heard this one before.

Kev Campbell's a great shout, don't remember him being particularly prolific though?

Couple questions:

1. Victor Valdes. Looks like he's going to ink a one-year deal with Liverpool. I'm hardly an expert on La Liga goalkeepers. Is he: A. likely to take Mignolet's job, B. compete for the starting job, C. start in the domestic cups?

2. Madger. (The three times I've typed that today Apple has tried to autocorrect to "madder", "manger" and "Madge's"). Acquired from Villareal. I know less about mid-table La Liga 17-year olds than La Liga keepers. Is he any good? Any comparables?

Valdes is a good signing, I know he couldn't do too much damage as he'd rarely play but Brad Jones is not an adequate second choice keeper. I don't think Valdes will push Mignolet out of the side, but I think they're pretty close in terms of ability. Only slight problem is that it may put Mignolet under more pressure than he is already under - I still don't think he's 100% comfortable playing for such a big club - although that presupposes Migs remains first choice.

Bringing in a new player to "push" an underachiever is always mentioned as a positive....

"We need to bring someone in to challenge Johnson, he's gotten to complacent right now."

But that pressure isn't constructive for everyone. I could definitely see Mignolet having a howler, getting replaced for the next game by Valdes, and crumbling. Who knows.....it might work perfectly. And I'm absolutely in favor of the signing. But there is some downside here for Mignolet.

The reason LFC probably doesn't care is that a true top class keeper is probably pretty high on the agenda if Mig doesn't take a step up this season. If Mig doesn't rise to the occasion they'll just hand the job to Valdes and go shopping next summer.

valdes pushes mig so far out of the XI he'll probably end up in the river dee. imo.

Valdes ****s all over mig lol@ them being similar in ability

Wellbeck top gs.at 100:1. Think Ill have a punt.

And thinking of Jones and the damage he could do....

It's funny, we look at the domestic cups as a complete afterthought at the beginning. But when our team finds themselves sitting in the semi-finals suddenly it's, "hey we can win a trophy here!"

It's gonna be nice to play these early cup games with a decent squad for a change. I'd imagine our team for the midweek game against Middlesborough will look something like this...

Jones Flanagan Toure Sakho Enrique Can Allen Henderson Lallana Markovic Lambert

Which allows Gerrard Sterling Coutinho Sturridge Balo Lovren Moreno Manquillo (Skrtel) (Johnson) to rest/come off the bench.

Although it'll be interesting to see just how committed to the diamond Rodgers remains.

Edit: is Lucas officially out the door? and what's the plan for Suso?
