Year of the spuds is looking dubious

Season begins today ! Let's keep playing 3-4-3 with no Gerrard in the middle and we can expect to mount a decent challenge
01-10-2015 , 04:13 PM
Biggest positives for me over the last month is Can and Markovic. Markovic is starting to look like a bit of a player now.
01-10-2015 , 04:15 PM
That and the fact we are winning games again.

I think Pardew used the word maverick about 25 times in his interview.

What a legend.

Relegation battle looks awesome right now. 5 points between 12th and 20th.

Everton are safe because they are Everton.
West Brom and Palace are safe because of manager importance.
Villa and Sunderland are ****, but neither is the type of club to actually go down.

So, really, it's survivor between Hull/QPR/Leicester/Burnley, only one can survive.

Peterborough chairman seems to have gone off his nut and is tweeting abuse at their players, the refs, clouds, etc.

Pretty entertaining. @DMAC102 is the handle.

carrying on the long and proud tradition of unhinged posh chairmen

Father Ted is underperforming the ££s put in.

I predict we will lose our next 3 (Chel, Arse, WHU) with a gd of between -8 and -12 in a drab fashion, persisting with this same midfield that has failed for almost a calendar year now.
gd was -4 but otherwise spot on (albeit not too hard to make) prediction.

These seem to be the main posts where I was negative about WBA at length - probably another 2 or 3 half-liners saying things were the same again that week. fwiw, I typically sit on my hands and don't complain itt every week, because it would be pretty boring for me to be saying the same thing over and over and no one else giving a toss.

Look - I may be inclined to gloat when we have random(?) successes but I don't gloat at my team being "****". In this case I don't even think they are **** - just that they've been deployed terribly by the head coach so far. I'm giving Pulis the benefit of the doubt, but today wasn't particularly encouraging from that point of view either.

--------

fn. for those with nothing better to read: there are also pretty clearly some bizarre things that we don't know about going on at WBA this season - reflected in, eg, repeated press briefings from inside the club against our best player, the bizarre Poco-Gamboa 91st minute sub, Andre Wisdom playing every game, etc etc

preseason i was talking about taking o38.5 on bwom and you said u didnt like it, which made me think you were expecting a relegation scrap

so i figd that when u langered me a few weeks ago u were saying AHA I TOLD YOU WE WOULD BE INVOLVED IN A RELEGATION SCRAP

but now it seems u predicted a midtable finish

so im not sure why i was subjected to such a brutal langering?

Just watching MOTD, that Burnley disallowed goal was a joke, at worst you give a pen to Burnley before the guy that scored could possibly "foul" the keeper

No - at that point I said that, as we had shipped out ~12 players and hadn't signed replacements, people should be wary about bets concerning us, because of the obv uncertainty.

Once we recruited I was more optimistic. As it turns out I was semi-right originally - we signed, seemingly, reasonably, but not in a way that was understandable by the head coach we had recruited.

I'm not sure what a "langering" is.

but I suppose it must be related to this.

The real point is that we have a squad that should be 11-15, but a striker who probably should be playing champions league. So my expectation is bumped up to 8-12.

What is United's team supposed to look like tomorrow? Is Di Maria going to play as a wing back? Seems like a waste.

It's not rocket science Brendan...

Liverpool's form in the Premier League this season when Lucas Leiva has played: WLDWWWDDWWDW

mark my words, when McCarthy returns Everton can still push for top 6. I still insist we're a better side than Liverpool in every single position, but we're missing McCarthy so much it hurts. He creates space and time for the rest of the midfield, and Lukaku looks lost without him as he's just not a naturally creative runner (by which I mean he's not the Van Persie type who will just telepathically move into positions that make life easy for the midfielders, he's more the simpleton striker who wants it handed on a plate but will finish it clinically when he gets it).

Excellent stuff from Lukaku and Coleman in particular today, both of whom worked harder and looked 100% sharper than they have all season, and a special mention to Besic who's struggled to fill McCarthy's shoes for the past few weeks but really put a shift in today. A draw was the absolute minimum we deserved, though admittedly City are exactly the type of team we'd love to play every week (especially when they have no Yaya and only a semi-fit Aguero!)

I realise I sound deluded, but nobody will convince me that 1pt from our last 18 (or 22pts from 21 games this season) is a fair return based on performances. It'll turn around!
